The Manikin struggled before attempting to eat its way out, but Glass-Annabell simply replaced the eaten glass. The floor also reached up to swallow everybody's feet.
Confidently, Rong blasted some fire towards the impostor Annabell. The heat did cause the walls to sag and Glass-Annabell to recoil. It also caused the restraints to weaken.
Glass-Annabell shot two glass rings towards Eemp, one tightening around Rong's snout and the other around Right's, just in case. They struggled with these uncomfortably tight restraints, Rong snorting angrily. But in the meantime, everybody had taken the chance to break free, although some were immediately caught again. Eemp couldn't move fast enough before its feet were encased in glass once more. Annabell wandered slowly over to the wall and so was an easy target. The Manikin made for the exit and once again was caught in the same manner. Vasily ran as fast as he could to get in an attack, but as soon as he stopped to slice at Glass-Annabell, he was caught once more. He pinwheeled his arms as Glass-Annabell moved him backwards.
However, Alex had set his sword to Wind and Lainey turned into Yume who in turn shapeshifted to her more streamlined and nimble form and both were moving constantly, avoiding touching the glass for more than a few seconds. At this speed though, it was hard to get in a very strong attack. Glass-Annabell was simply either tackled by Yume or chipped away by Alex. She could easily fix her wounds of course, but notches in her form kept appearing as fast as she could heal.
At first, she tried to catch them where she saw them land in vain. Then she tried to raise bumps on the floors and walls to trip them up, but they easily jumped over them. Glass-Annabell started to look desperate, trying to follow the two with her eyes, failing to think of a plan, until finally, "Stop!" she gasped.
Yume and Alex decidedly did not stop. As Glass-Annabell stumbled under the attacks, she shouted out "Look at your friends!"
Everybody, even Eemp and the Manikin, were getting completely engulfed by glass. The Manikin was already almost completely covered. Eemp, being the shortest, was almost covered as well, its smiling face still calm, as though confident everything was alright. Right and Rong, their muffled shouts sounding rather disconcerted, were reaching up high to try to avoid the glass. It looked almost ridiculous, as though Eemp was yawning.
Yume and Alex did not stop moving around, though they did stop attacking. Glass-Annabell panted, but her grin was back. "You see, they'll suffocate. I'll only stop once you stop moving around."
"Then we'll jus' get eat'n by tha' hell-beast back thar!" As if agreeing with this statement, the hell-beast let out another hungry howl.
"Well," Glass-Annabell's grin grew wider. "At least then your death will be quick. So." And she outstretched her arm dramatically, pointing the knife at each of the glass mounds. "What will you do?"
This was the chance the two were looking for. Alex jumped down and sliced off Glass-Annabell's hand with ease. She cried out with surprise as the knife and hand pinwheeled in the air before being caught by a now-human Yume. Glass was already trapping her legs, but it didn't matter now. She stabbed Glass-Annabell, who looked down at the wound in disbelief as the cracks spread before completely collapsing.
"Come on!" Yume called out, opening the door as the glass receded back to the floor.
"No." Everybody turned in answer to the ghastly voice.
It was Glass-Annabell again, but made up of the shards that had fallen to the ground. She looked a mix of Annabell and Lainey, wickedly grinning while fearfully staring at the same time. "I'm sorry," one side of the face seemed to say while the other said, "I toLd yOU...i coNTroL tHe GlaSS..."
The mix of glass shards stumbled towards them, shards falling off as other shards picked themselves up and attached to the creature.
"Oh jus' shut up already," Vasily scowled before booting Annaley down the hall where she tottered a bit before being caught in the maw of the hell-beast.
Everybody seemed to freeze for a few seconds as it seemed to happily devour the collection of shards before running out the door onto the grass...glass...glass grass.
Alex's attention was caught by loud muffled shouts. Back at the door, Eemp was standing, his smile somehow looking pleading. "What are you doing?" the knight shouted. "Go! We've gotta..." he trailed off, staring down at its feet. Cloth feet. Which wouldn't do well on jagged, broken glass.
Without hesitation, the knight sheathed his sword and ran back to let Eemp on his back. He almost stumbled. The straw doll weighed a little more than he expected.
As he ran once more to make up for the lost ground, Right and Rong coiled around his arms for more stability. Judging from the urgency of their muffled shouts and the baying, the hell-beast was not far behind.
