Right watched Lainey...or...someone, shapeshift...twice...or something...what did that guy in the beginning say again? Multiple personalities and bodies...but why couldn't she just shapeshift directly...? Were there weird rules or something? The red dragon watched the cottage as behind them the fire raged on, pondering shapeshifting laws that he'd never heard of. Rong, in the meantime, muttered to herself dangerously about how nobody listened to her.
"I mean, if I just set it on fire, we'd easily see what was inside."
"Yeah. Fire and ash," replied Right absent-mindedly.
Vasily considered the cottage for a few seconds. "'Tis rock, lass. Rock don't burn."
"Everything does eventually, sweetie..." she trailed off as sounds of crashes came from the cottage. "Hm. Something's happening." Then came the unmistakable sounds of a scuffle.
Without hesitation, Vasily ran to the decrepit house and kicked down the door. (It took a couple of tries.) Right entertained the idea of just abandoning them, or maybe even getting Rong to burn down the house on top of them...but if they did survive, it'd be two against (technically) one. He still needed to stay on good terms until he knew how to kill them and win this war. Besides, trees were falling all over the place now and they might need help.
So instead, Eemp rushed to the window not-Lainey went through before. Inside, Right could see not-Lainey dodging and biting. Vasily seemed to have gotten a rusty...fireplace thing, possibly a poker and was putting his fencing skills to good use. He had managed to get close to the giant spider and repeatedly jabbed at it.
Right bit down on Rong's snout before she could do anything impulsive. "Don't do anything related to opening your mouth. Follow me." The Chinese dragon snaked in, the blue dragon following reluctantly. Eemp was pulled halfway through the window from the growing weight of its arms. The two dragons quickly wrapped around two legs each, unable to grab all due to the spider's constant scrabbling.
"Ugh, the hair's all...prickly...!"
"Shut up and pull." The two retracted back to Eemp still wrapped around the legs. Eemp managed to start pushing on the wall with his feet and eventually, the spider collapsed, its remaining four legs still wriggling until Vasily managed to stab it in the head.
As everybody stood around, recovering from the aftermath, the more normal-sized spiders started to skitter towards the body of the giant, swarming all over the body. It was dizzying to look at. It was like its skin (exoskeleton?) was moving, bubbling...
