Vasily turned to the girl who just stepped in, eyeing her thoughtfully. "Plan? Aye, well, I've bin plannin'-"
"No plan. We don't really have an idea what we're running from, but I don't really feel like facing something that a mannequin with no apparent sensory organs is afraid of." Right stared at...Lainey. Yes, that's right. The one with supposedly multiple personalities. And bodies. She didn't really look much. Did she use some other personality to follow? Then again, Vasily managed to keep up. "I lost track of that thing and the feet were getting a little torn up. Any of you know how to sew?"
Vasily and Lainey glanced at each other. "Even if we did know, I don't think either of us carries a sewing kit around."
"Right, right, bad question...well, I guess it can still run fine, so I suppose we'll just continue?"
"Look, mebe you c'n, but we can't run forev'r, we'd jus' get tired! We should be plannin' now, when we're - "
"Watch out!" Lainey shouted, causing pirate and dragons to whip around. The danger was a plant. Previously harmless, it now reared up, gnashing teeth and spitting poison, afraid like the rest of the forest. It was monstrous, a creature that laughed in the face of nature.
Rong quickly took care of it with some fire.
As the group watched the large plant-creature screech its dying breath, they couldn't help but notice it set several trees on fire. The trees trembled and writhed in pain as the fire spread fast, ridiculously fast. It would have been hilariously fast if it weren't for the fact that it was dangerously fast. Already, it was getting too big for mere rain to control. The trees shook, spreading the fire to their close neighbors, which continued to pass the fire along like a horrible epidemic. The air was soon hot with the smell of burning wood. As a tree finally fell, unable to hold itself up anymore, Vasily said, "Aye, we'd better go." And they were off again.
"You...you...NIT!"
"I'm sorry!" Rong shouted as she kept fending off branches.
"You KNOB! MORON! A COMPLETELY ASININE MORON!"
"I get it, I get it!" As they ran, Right felt a twinge of pity for anybody caught between the fire and whatever had the whole forest scared. But only a little. It meant less competition for them, after all.
After a while, they all burst into a clearing, the largest they've seen so far. As Vasily and Lainey caught their breaths and Right grumbled over the lost straw, Rong said incredulously, "Somebody lives in this dump?" They looked up. Right in the middle of a clearing was a house. A cottage made out of stone. The roof was thatch. It was in bad condition. "Looks abandoned to me," Right replied, debating whether to grab some thatch or not.
