SpoilerYou've just made me realise that for the reference to which the Bubble owes its name to be correct, it should be Wainwright Omega 56... *facepalm* ...nevermind. 57 does kinda work...
But, yeah, the Bubble Universe is what happens when I come up with stuff last thing at night, about ten minutes after I said I'd have it imagined by. Thankfully, my brain seems to work quite nicely under pressure, and so, bar the issue of naming, the whole Bubble was quite well thought out. On the other hand, the area around it... ah, that was a different matter altogether.
You have a fair bit of reign, 'cause I'm nice, over the orbital belt or whatever fancy term it should be referred to by. The original idea is that there were to be a fair few "bubbles" in orbit around the planet, serviced by resources harvested from nearby and orbiting asteroids, though the next morning it became pretty apparent that the colony wouldn't have stayed in such a derelict condition if there were bases nearby that could have helped. Now, it wouldn't surprise me if a few of the asteroids had been mined, or were in the process of being mined, so you might be able to have some fun there.
As for the bubble itself... it occurs to me that there are two ways... sorry, make that three... actually, there are four ways of working with it in the vicinity. The first is to make it immensely unreachable for some reason. The second is to get sneaky and note that you could say that you've moved in time as well as space and are here exactly twenty-three years before TBM, before the complex got a rather large hole in it for some never ascertained reason... *wink wink*. The third way is to have the two battles intersect in a manner similar to how GBI and GBII were linked through the Escherscape, giving both sides a glimpse of the other through the hole, albeit not being able to interact. The fourth and final way is to say that, by the time you get to the bubble, if you get to it at all, TBM has left and you can wreak havoc on the aftermath if you do so wish.
I do not mind any of the above, and shall leave the decision to Schazer and you guys. Bear in mind that the round does seem to me like it's going to end somewhen this month, so...
(I quite like idea number two, actually... hmm...)
