it turns out you need to need to cover the banana in baking soda, and then dip the banana (with the baking soda) in vinegar. as the reaction happens, the peel will dissolve and with enough dexterity you can grab the banana and eat it. it's going to taste weird though because of the vinegar and the baking soda and the carbon dioxide
