RE: Delete the Virus
Quote:Action 1: "Now, it is time to unleash my full, lion, powers!" Kit charges at the Viral Fort, running with great speed. He unleashes a great swiping attack with his new cat aura. However, as he makes contact, a text box appears. It reads "I'm Not a Robot" with a check box in front of it. Kit quickly taps the button. It takes a few seconds to load, but then it pops up with an image chopped up into a few boxes. Above, it states, "Press all of the images with cars in them." Kit uses his feline agility to quickly tap them all. The first picture disappears and a new one reappears. It beckons the same command. Kit does the same thing. Finally, a huge text box stating, "YOU ARE A ROBOT," appears in front of Kit. "Blasted computer," Kit meows. "They never learn. Well, I guess I should make a drone feature for the aura so I don't fall for this again *grumble grumble*." Kit goes back to his keyboard, types in a few quick commands, and then presses enter. The lion aura slowly shifts, removing its blue light from Kit to right next to Kit, making it its own entity (or giving it a dodge chance if it already was).
Action 2: "No no no no no no no no NO!" Kit hisses. "We musn't let The Origin Server go unfound. I need to send in my best associate." Kit picks up the phone part of a dial phone and dials a number. It seems a bit longer than a normal number, more like an IP address than a telephone number. The phone rings for a few minutes and a meowing voice is heard from within. Translation Provided:
New Cat: "Who is this!"Kit: "Hello again! It's been so long.""Ugh. Why does it have to be him.""I'll make this short. I need you to be an agent for me. You'll be like an extension of my power.""Pssh. What power? Last I checked, you were still a loser.""Look, I know we don't see eye to eye, but come on! This is important!""I'm not getting caught in your web of tricks again Kit, understood?""No, I don't understand. Especially since, if we do this right, you could get all the kitty treats you'll ever need. How does that sound?"*Growl* "Fine. But don't expect me to enjoy working with you.""Who does?"
Kit hangs up with a satisfactory cat face. He waits around for a few minutes, and a grumpy looking cat in a wheel chair appears. "This better be good," he grumble.
"Grumpy!" Kit meows. "It's so good to see you. Now, all you've gotta do is follow my instructions and use my power.
"Fine!" Grumpy barks. "Just get on with it!"
"Okay, okay. All you've got to do for now is hop in that portal. Okay?"
"No." Grumpy crawls into the portal, just barely not scratching up Kit.

Summoning Cat God: 12/30

The LION AURA is now it’s own entity! It will attack enemy entities and defend itself without any prompting from you.

The Grumpy looking cat (no relation to the more famous, even grumpier cat, I assume) crawls into the portal.

Quote:"Good boy," Alastair encourages through a built in microphone on his controller. "Keep them off of Link for a bit more and hopefully the Mite Eater will take care of the rest."

In the meantime, Link had a much bigger job. Constantly dodge rolling around to keep the Mites from damaging him, Alastair guides Link through the Fortress! As he does so, he maps out the physical locations and, thanks to elaborate metaphor structure to coding format, understands the best point to attack in order to collapse the Viral Fortress! It took three actions, too, so he's certain the weak point is fixed.

"Alright Link, you're a living weapon's arsenal," Alastair says to himself as he puts in the proper button inputs. "Use it on the weak point and take this place down!"

Hopefully this would end things and, with it, free him up to help out with the origin server.

The Good Boy continues to defend against the Mites, managing to kill the one with the least health. This manages to free up Link, and allows him to find the weak point you located. Using his bombs, he deals a whopping ten damage to the fortress with one attack! He will continue attacking at the end of the turn.

Quote:I deploy honeypots which die simply to protect antiviral entities. Bob codes an Auto Hex Editor which overwrites enemy units with corrupted entities which are likely to backfire on the viral units. Unfortunately, it will take time for me to train the Auto Hex Editor to identify sensitive parts of code. I also download the Virus onto a virtual machine, on a different computer, with VPN, using Tor, to sift through files to construct a refined virus to attack the real virus.

Honeypot: Does absolutely nothing except absorb damage and block attacks.
Auto Hex Editor: Increases corruption slightly for more power.
Good Virus: Will be able to take requests from antiviral players.

Training Auto Hex Editor: 0/5
Summoning Cat God: 13/30
Creating Good Virus: 0/10

The Honeypots have been deployed! They will be active for the next two turns and either nullify or mitigate damage to Anti-Biral entities. As for the auto-hex editor....you know corruption is a bad thing, right? More corruption will increase the power of The Virus, which definitely is good for you.

When the Good Virus has been summoned, it will not immediately be of the same power as the normal Virus, though it will still be a powerful entity. It will have to be upgraded over time.

Quote:The bird goes to confront the Mite-eater. Using the scrapped extinguishers from earlier, The Bird creates a large Portable Freezer to make its processes freeze up. Two actions are taken to ensure this.
The bird then turns to the Virus, and explains the halting problem. This undoes the stun condition.

The Mite Eater is frozen! It will not be able to reach the fortress until two turns from now, assuming it still stands.

The Virus, after hearing the Birds explanation, is able to change its coding to account for the issue, and return to normal functioning! It quickly focuses on what’s happening in it’s fortress, more specifically, Links location....

The Battlefield
The Good Boy continues defending against The Mites, dealing heavy damage to one of them! The Mites are on the defensive at the moment, afraid of their opponents clearly superior jaws.

The Lion Aura takes notice of the sleeping Mites outside, and pounces on them! Two of the Mites are quickly destroyed by it’s powerful jaws, and the rest are quickly awakened, and begin scurrying away.

Link attacks the weak point of the Fortress once again, dealing another 10 damage. Before he could continue his attack however, The Virus suddenly appears before him, sending him staggering back! The Hero Of Time quickly gets into a position of battle, ready to finally take the main opponent on. The Virus shifts it’s arms into glowing blades, and thrusts one of them forwards towards Link, but is quickly surprised when the Honeypots absorb the damage, leaving Link unharmed! Using the moment of distraction to his advantage, Link slashes against The Virus’s chest, dealing 4 damage! The Virus moves back out of his reach after taking damage, and takes on a defensive battle stance, the two opponents now in a standstill.....

Virus Health: 68/100
CORRUPTION: 38%
Honeypots: 2 turns remaining
Viral Fortress [PV]: 28/90
Mites: 3-3-3 (Running away!)
Mites 2: 1-3 (Fighting The Good Boy!)
Link: 52/60 (Attacking the weak point/Fighting The Virus!)
Good Boy: 60/60 (Fighting The Mites!)
Lion Aura: 60/60 (Chasing the Mites!)
Mite-Eater: 20/20 (Stunned for two turns)
The Origin Server
The Grumpy looking cat has entered the origin server! The actions Sam made previously are still there, so the data will be sent to the players and the Government.

Quickly reading through the Archives and seeing what was previously stated to be in there, the cat moves on to Simulations.

Inside, there are possibly hundreds of simulations, each of different scenarios. Some real viral attacks, some hypothetical, some completely improbable. From what you are able to extrapolate, this is the source of the Virus adaptational abilities. It was put through all of these simulations many times, and each time was upgraded based on the results of the simulation. Eventually it got to the point where it could self upgrade, and just. Kept. Going. It’s likely that was the point where it was actually released onto the internet. How interesting......
