She Says Nothing

Imogen can't respond. She does not know how. She just stares at the creature - the dragon, a voice in her head tells her. The dragon slips back into the water, her words echoing through the woods.
"Go back home. Just ask your steed and you will be there."
As if on cue, the mare returns and nuzzles Imogen's hand. When she turns to look back at the lake, the dragon is gone, the water undisturbed, as if nothing had been there. There are no tracks in the snow on the shore, no disturbance to mark her presence. But Imogen still wonders. Why did she chase Sarah into the storm? Why is she here? And what will she do going forward? Or will she just go home to her life and her job and forget about it all?
