Slowly, awareness flows back into your groggy mind. This awareness is accompanied by a vague idea, floating somewhere beyond the edge of your perception. As you try to focus on it, the idea resolves into the steady, shrill note of an alarm.

Ugh, is it morning already? You're so tired...

You try to ignore the noise and get back to sleep. In the back of your mind, some part of you says that there's no use trying to sleep anymore. You do your best to ignore that noise too. If you ignore it for long enough, maybe the alarm will just give up and shut off on it's own...

The alarm, however, persists.

Unwilling to move any more than you have to, you shift just enough to free your arm, leaving your other arm curled under your head like a pillow. Eyes closed and lying down, you reach up in vague direction of the angry noise.

Your hands don't find anything but empty air. You keep pawing around feebly anyway.

...you mutter groggily into your other arm, as the noise gets more insistent.

...you bark, more clearly this time. The alarm abruptly stops. Then, it says...
