Spoiler I've read about Yummikake Fruit Pies in the Winterbough Saga before, but am curious about one thing: How did E.O. Costello come up (I assume it was him) with the idea and the name? It's a perfect name for a cheap knockoff product.

It was me; it's intended as a spoof of Tastykake, a product well-known to those who grew up, or spent time in, the Philadelphia area (I went to law school at Penn). Tasty Baking Co. was famous for making fruit pies, doughnuts, Butterscotch Krimpets, Cocoanut Juniors, and the like. To a certain extent, this is guying Major Matt Mason, who is a Fluffya native, and can prove it with his scrapple intake. And yes, it's intended to show what copycats (copyfoxes?) the Vulps are.
