The soundtracks to the Touhou games are some of the all-time-favourites of mine. Almost every single track is a masterpiece, with almost every game beginning with catchy and memorable first stage and boss themes and culminating with intense and expressive final and extra boss themes.
These 2 themes I consider to be the most emotionally powerful in the entirety of the Touhou soundtrack - especially when combined with the meaning behind them and the backstory of the character the themes belong to. The melody here also seems to convey a sense of some kind of story being told, which I also love.
This song is a bit more subtle and less "in your face" than most of the other final boss themes in Touhou, however, with its dark and mysterious feel, this is exactly how it needs to be: it's slowly but surely creeping up as you listen to it, with the melodic parts standing out even further and having even more impact and power than if they were to be used in more of a "typical" final boss theme.
Fires of Hokkai, Fires of Hokkai, Fires of Hokkai... Of all the stage 6 themes, this one stands out the most with its melancholic yet transcendent and... "heavenly" feel. Kind of fitting considering who the final boss you have to face on that stage is.
