The Eagle Time Book Club: Now reading Whatever

I just finished reading "Ella Minnow Pea" by Mark Dunn, which is an excellent story (told through a series of letters) about a girl, Ella, and a ludicrous development in her country of Nollop (a fictional place founded by the creator of the phrase "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog").

SpoilerIn Nollop, there is a statue of the creator of the lazy dog panagram, commemorating his achievement. Then, a letter falls off the monument: Z. The leaders of the country decide that this is Nevin Nollop's way of saying that the letter z should no longer be used in spoken or written communication,
creating punishments for those who do.

And then another letter falls off.

This story is funny, touching, and speaks to the importance of language- down to the last letter. I definitely recommend it.
