Here are some useful links. After you click one link, it is probably easier just to use the sidebar, but in case you forget where to find status effects or STAB bonus it'll explain here.
In most of these sections they will have a "HOW TO READ" page which explains in general terms the mechanics that most if not all of the specific items/moves/whatever follow, so, worth a peek.
Combat: Good to read to figure out exactly how stats come into play during combat. Includes information on status effects.
List of Items Here
Pokemon. This page has links to Pokemon Stats, Pokemon EXP, Natures and STAB. as well as other misc stuff. The Pokedex only has the bulbasaur line last I checked. At the bottom there is also information about Capabilities, Abilities, and Moves.
Capabilities- these are basically: how far your pokemon can move in one turn, or how strong, intelligent or how high it can jump. Those are the main ones, there are also other capabilities like firestarter or something. Such things are kind of like abilities, but aren't in the real video games. Passive or active use.
Abilities- These are the abilities in your pokemon video game. A pokemon starts out with one basic ability, and later at level 40 can take a second ability (including a high ability). Passive of Active use.
Moves- The moves they learn in the video game, have different effects in tabletop. Damage is based on rolling a dice: #d# notation: the first number is how many dice you roll, the second is how many faces the die has. Most moves can only be used every other turn, and some can only be used even less frequently!
Finally, Pokemon have 6 stats, HP, Speed, and special and physical stats for both defense and attack. They gain one point each level that they can use to increase their stats with, as long as the base relationship is held (if its base attack is lower than the base HP, the current attack must be lower than current HP). After level 50 they begin to gain 2 points per level, and after 75 3 points per level.
Trainers:Trainers. Here you can find links to all of the trainer classes, along with all of the special features (passive/active powers) that a trainer has. Go poke around to see if you want to decide right now what kind of trainer you want to be when you grow up. I would recommend you not dwell too much time looking at each and every feature there is until you are likely to actually take them. You can also cross-class, and requirements to do so are detailed in each section.
Another thing to note: Trainers level up based on their accomplishments, such as every 25 pokemon examined with the pokedex, 10 different species of pokemon owned, or winning gym battles or even saving the world. A table that shows how many stat points and such you get for level up is on the Create Your Trainer page.
When you level up you get a stat point to increase STR, CON, DEX etc with, or a feature or both.
For an explanation of what features are and how and when and if you can get them, see this post: https://www.mspaforums.com/showthread.ph...ost6925216
