i'll be leaving, have a good time at lecture today
[getting up to prepare to commute]
[it's the linear algebra lecture and we covered RREF and least squares, turned in homework]
hey did you use elementary matrices or row operations? we have covered row operations before
[opened up computer and tried to seriously take notes but the lecture covered the recent homework material so i worked on my chord identification project]
[prof's cool harmonica alarm went off, signalling the end of the lecture. turned in hw, go to next thing.]
[next thing was breakout sessions with Professional Communication for Engineers. since we didn't even have pitches ready we just kinda did whatever]
[worked on music project a bit]
so are we working on our group project for this...
i want to make sure i'm doing my part
i guess the competition for this project doesn't need to necessarily be competitive... or have downsides
[after a while the cancelled breakout session ended. a junior who i've been helping too much, since last year, texted me asking for help]
[i say - i haven't had breakfast today. could we meet over lunch?]
[i get some tacos, which is pretty atypical, and after waiting for too long i rather naively pile on the guajillo chili and "ghost peppers" (pretty sure they're not actual bhut jolokia)]
[it's more matlab work, which is kind of frustrating]
i also feel hopeless, ok
[i help her finish the work, while slowly dying of Spice Pain]
[it's time to go do nothing. i wander the halls a bit aimlessly before deciding that 30 minutes is a short enough time to go wait for my 1:30 appointment with the undergraduate studies office]
[turns out that they open walk-in times at 1:00 but i end up waiting there until 2:15 anyway. i work on the music project until the laptop powers down]
so, the bs/ms plan of study, you can pass it along, right
graduation date cannot be moved up...
[time to rush to databases class.]
[i bump into one of the folks i'm working with on the music project]
music theory, chords, dissonance & tension, so on
meta analysis of tonal centers to determine actual key changes? parsing grammars of music?
[class is about to start and the prof pokes fun at me for kinda discussing loudly...]
[i shut up for a bit out of embarassment]
[after a bit i try to get back to talking but the prof jokes that 'i've had my break' and class starts]
[databases....... normal forms...............]
[ok, it's over. where was i going? oh, right, i had to meet the thermodynamics professor about office stuff]
oh, good luck with your car repair
wait a sec, i have a dental appointment tomorrow
[time to l... oh, i still need to help]
ok, that's how you do this matlab stuff
hunger / chili tearing its way through my stomach
why'd i ever let people get under my skin about [importance of] undergrad prestige
horrible, awful doubt and fear and uncertainty
[time to go home, drive home]
drove home
mope
eat dinner.
shower. (...sing...)
mope
carelessly play piano with eyes closed as a futile means to calm down
work on music project
mope
write this.
