For those who don't live in the US or don't know much about Washington, tornadoes only ever happen in dry, flat areas, like Kansas or whatever. Western Washington is all trees, rain, and hills. Tornadoes are unheard of here (although earthquakes are fairly common). We rarely get strong wind. It's similar with lightning. Even though we probably get the most inches of rain per year in all of North America and our idea of a rainy day is a Idahoan's idea of a tropical storm, we rarely ever get lightning for some reason.
To get tornadoes and lightning in one night, as well as rainfall that seems strong even to a gray-skinned Washingtonian like me, means an absolute whoopass of a storm.
