Hasty's mother is presumably still alive and she was dropped on the floor when Hasty went to grab Blu. I doubt a single bang would've been fatal, although it did probably cause some problems.

Many shop keepers do not keep all of their inventory on them, unless they have a store. This is mainly due to inventory space. Hasty doesn't have enough space in his inventory to carry all of his items. This is also why sometimes shopkeepers say "I'll send it over to your ship", this is why some shopkeepers say they'll send the item to you're ship, they're likely grabbing it from storage somewhere and then bringing it to you.
