But it's not a good secret! Secrets are just as important to be designed well, because it's partly the enticement of seeing something out of reach or being presented an object you don't immediately know what to do with, and partly the reward of being swift or cunning enough to work with what you got, learn how a game works and figure out a part of the game where it isn't gonna help you or show you the way, or even deliberately throw a very difficult curveball at you.
It's why I'm also not a fan of hidden items in RPGs if they're done as poorly as in final fantasy. Wallhugging every dungeon to find a secret passage is bad, while wallhugging a certain spot because you can see the place with the reward is cool.
