"I didn't even know I was hungry" (The Food Appreciation Thread)

On reflection, I have literally only ever posted desserts in this thread. Guess it's time for another one; I just found a fun new tool at the goodwill and wanted to try it out.

Experiment number one was a lemon butter cake filled with double chocolate cake with mini chocolate chips. There's raspberry compote between the layers, and the whole assemblage is topped with fudge icing. Since the interior cake takes less than a standard nine inch batch of batter, I used the excess to make cupcakes and topped them with peanut-butter-and-cream-cheese frosting. (I also topped some with raspberry, but they were a lot less photogenic.) All in all, good stuff, would eat too much of again. Next time I'll probably do a filled bomb instead of a layer cake, or experiment with ice cream.
