You're not an idiot, they aren't running a charity here. The entire point of this 'school', 'training' and these 'exams' is to give you the skills to do something for whoever's behind it, something that presumably involves all this persuasion you've been doing. You doubt whatever tasks they have for the 'applicant' that makes it through will be completed by sitting around doing nothing.
