RE: We chat about videogames and videogame accessories.
This just in, people more likely to express frustration than contentment, more at eleven.

Anonymous source claims critical thinking ruins gaming experience, suggests everyone stop. Up next, an hour of four angry talking heads coming to a non-answer on the issue.

I guess if you want gushing discushin I played To The Moon a little while back and enjoyed the ever-loving crap out of it. It falls into that grey area of game/not-game since there's very little in terms of mechanics or puzzles, but it's my belief that the story, writing and soundtrack are more than enough to carry it. To my distress though I can't seem to get anyone to play it no matter how much I try to shove it down their throats.

Speaking of throat-shoving it's been at least a few weeks since I tried to get anyone to buy The Secret World why the hell won't anyone cave in already?!

Fun fact: the first couple lines of dialogue of the good end is the same as the start of the bad end, so because of the whole "get exactly the right piece of evidence to the exact right person and not just a similar one" I think I ended up restarting the end 30 or so times after the first line of dialogue not knowing that I had gotten it right on my second or third try. I definitely went through every piece of evidence for the correct person, and moved on to cycling through every piece of evidence with different person before going back and trying the right combination.

by the time the secret world had relented on going to f2p:

- I had lost interest in the game due to late entry into games usually not working out well, ie missing out on prior events and picking up the pieces of what might be an aging system from the beginning
- prior knowledge from news articles that the combat system was going to be cool and different, followed by many post mortems mentioning wasted potential and regrets
- all mmos from a point originating maybe five years ago are placed at a lower priority for my interest due to various factors decreasing their value as games I would be interested in, many of which few of them are willing to address
- at that point most of the other games I can possibly start or finish playing are put at a higher priority

I love To The Moon. It's one of the few games I feel have perfect implementation. Every loose end is wrapped up satisfactorily and the ending had me in tears. It was wonderful.

This looks neat and unless you have some kind of moral objection to kickstarter you should think about giving it money maybe?
I mean if you just want to wait and buy it when it is released then you can do that too it's already fully funded.

I was going to post a synopsis here but... the video kind of basically already sums up everything the kickstarter says? You're an angry college dropout cat who suddenly gains weird paranormal powers and finds something weird going on in the woods and maybe everyone's going to die? But you've got important college dropout stuff to do like drink, break things and experience deep existential terror so you can't let it bother you too much.

also god damn look how pretty it is

Matthewmatosis continues to be the best.

Still interested in trying the game out, but extremely disappointed about the changes in the art style.

Strangely, i missed the last two posts on the previous page (i blame Ben's snarky comment on the top of this page for distracting me).

The thing is, it could've been a definitive version if the game's main purpose was to improve it's flaws, as oppossed to "update" it. It feels like they tried to hard to make it "HD".

WHAAAAAT

Why would they do that? That's so sad. Meloncholy

Small changes like that in re-releases baffle me to no end. I guess it's because the original staff is not involved in the same way or at all in some cases.

The exclusion of this song in Darkstalkers Revengeance or whatever makes me so mad, instead they re-use the regular character select music every time you're challenged and the character select theme for Hunter for the "next opponent" segments. WHY, it's so pumpin'! and as far as i know every version of Vampire Savior had it except for VS2 which isn't technically the same game.

ARGH NOW I'M MAD BECAUSE RE-RELEASES COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER Raaaaage

At this point, I’ll bet someone told them that people sue for child trauma overseas.

(so, anyone else nab anything from the Steam 2spooky sale? I got a lot of stuff I shouldn’t have.)

So anyways Sega sneakily released a sequel to the greatest typing game of all time, and it is disappointing.

Like, you can clearly tell they just replaced the shooting with typing and declared it good but there's just no creativity in it. I haven't completed the game yet but so far none of the bosses have any gimmicks. I can tell so often that 'Oh this is probably kinda neat in the original thing' but then of course in the game that translates to the same old 'type the words that appear there' and there's nothing different to it than what you normally do.

Also they still hold guns in cutscenes and while I understand it would be a hard change to make, what with how often they're actually USING the guns in House of the Dead: Overkill cutscenes, but it would still be pretty funny even if they just replaced all the gun models with keyboards, with no regard for context, having them reload keyboards and hands clipping through them and just kinda ridiculous or something, I'unno. It kinda feels like they were just like, making a PC version of House of the Dead: Overkill, noticed that Typing of the Dead was getting a bit of a resurgence in popularity, and threw a typing version in there. And then for some reason made it Typing of the Dead: Overkill featuring House of the Dead: Overkill and not the other way around.

It's also hella easy but I haven't unlocked hardcore mode, which I hope is like, mistyping loses you health. There are health packs all over the place and you've got 10 HP and I don't know what happens when you run out because it's never been an issue, and I'm on hard mode so I'unno.

“Nightmare in North Point” DLC, which has its own entry somewhere on the page.

It's entirely possible that they simply wanted to wait until all these samples EarthBound Central dug up "blew over" so they wouldn't have a legal disaster on their hands if a Beatles lawyer Googled it.
I’m aware of the possible legal stuff, but last I checked, Nintendo has some pretty pricey lawyers on retainer.

I honestly don’t know if their reasons go beyond “this analysis we did suggests we better not”. Nintendo internals are often mysterious anyway.

Well, I just found out what gives. Apparently the studio closed, but Sega let a small splinter faction finish it up. So, they had something like four months to get it together with wire and duct tape, and at some point they were down to nine people, all of them in theory also looking for new jobs.

Are you asking about avoiding overt sexuality or like, just the kind geared towards a male audience (ie based around objectification, humiliation, domination, etc)

Because if it's the latter I'd def want to know an answer to that too

RE: We chat about videogames and videogame accessories.
In any case, Japanese dating sims in particular always have porn because every dating sim/visual novel publisher in japan thinks it makes them sell better

...and they're actually right so that is unlikely to stop. But this does usually lead to games in which there are a few random porn scenes that only loosely fit in
