The mechanic looked between Jones and Wilnarr as they both spoke to him at once, he rubbed his temple with the tip of his digipen.

"Wells, the ship was an older model, now out of production, seems to have been actually several of the same model stapled together over the years, each modified in turn, a lot of work if you want it working in tip top condition, but that would take a week. Right now we can flush the grav generator and the internal fusion plants and restock its rods easy enough, refit neccessary pipe work that cant be ignored, and fix damage to the 15 hull breeches." he said flipping the first sheet. They both could see the mechanic had twenty more sheets filled with issues. "Apart from those the only major issue is the emergency release mechanism which would seperate the cockpit from the main body of the ship, which would leave the cockpit without any power or life support and the rest of the ship without any controls to activate its distress beacon or otherwise control itself and communicate. Wes cant really fix that without stripping the ship down and building it back up, which we can but this ain't no proper shipyard so it'd take a while and a lot of money in docking fees alone, I'd reccommend you to let us just remove the ability for the ship to seperate rather than leave it in place if I was yous. Everything else is optional if yous gots the money and time." he said tapping the rest of the clipboard.

...Right before Lucy snatched it out of his hands.

"Eh heh, yeas thats a lot of the stuff I skimmed over, I was narrowing it down to essentials work. Since thats typically what shippers want done most when they land here. If you want to handle some of those things yourselves, yous guis is more than welcome to, its why I wanted to know what you want us to do foirst."

Gunda walks up and takes a look at the list as well. She nods and hums and haws over it before looking at the mechanic.

"I think I can handle the piping issues and the separation mechanism. If I remember right those are some pretty tight jobs on ships like these. I can do it and leave you boys to work on the hull."

"Alrights, but we'll start with the grav generators and fusion plants foirst, that way leaks will be more obvious by the time we're done, so youis guis can more easily see what needs to be patched." The mechanic said. "Job will cost about 100,000 credits, including docking fees."

Lucy glanced over at Gunda, then moved the sheet over so she was still holding it but Gunda could look through it too. "We can't just disable the emergency release and leave it at that for now? How big are the-Oh, you've got the hull breaches here." She sucked a breath in through clenched teeth. "Lot of numbers here in that right column... Here." She handed the clipsheet over to Gunda.

"I'll see if I can access some funds in the meantime, alright? Alright." She said, cracking her knuckles, ready to do some crime to pick up some monies to pay for this nonsense. Not right now obviously, just, to get ready. Ideally they'd pay once the job is done so less time to be stuck here for people to look around for where their money had gone. And 100,000 credits got attention quickly.

“Ah - that’s all well and good, but if you don’t mind my asking, what is my assignment? And I do believe I was asking about everyone’s pronouns, if I may!”

“I go by he,” Shotgun told her. “And...just do whatever you think is most pressing. Ship’s a disaster so just do your best. We don’t have a formal captain or leader at the moment, nor do I really think we need one.”

Shotgun did not like captains.

"I'm She, but, yeah, just help out, we'll see if we keep you, and we'll do a 'get round the table, get to know each other, he is he, she is she, they are they, etc' once we know which of you we're bothering to keep. And we might need a captain, not a leader though." Lucy chipped in. "If things get hairy, we can't all be running around doing our own thing, or having a committee to decide things. But, that's for us to discuss, later, at the nice get round the table event. Now." Lucy looked around at the crew, thinking for a moment. Okay.

"Right, I'm going to take a list of all the names here, and see about running background checks. You worried about that? Well, don't be, we're not picky unless we think you're a danger to us, takes all sorts of beings and methods to get by in this galaxy. You give me a fake name, you're out. That's a problem, you're out. You want to come talk to me and get your story across? That's fine, come do it, love to talk to you to hear your side." Lucy called out, taking out a datapad.

In reality, this was more to see which members of this potential crew would possibly be amiable to helping her steal funds, rather than safeguarding the crew from criminals. The more help, the better weirdly enough. And at least then she'd know who to shake first if things went to shit anyway.

"That's what I meant, disable the mechanism. Should just be as easy as disconnecting a few cables from the places that would actually detach the cockpit from the rest of the ship, make it so that the catches that hold the two together won't release"

“Makes sense. I say go for it,” Shotgun said.

Gunda grabs her tools and goes into the ship, getting to work plugging the leaks and rerouting the piping and working on disabling the detachment mechanism!

Wilnarr seemed uninterested in the engineering prowess of the new crew! "So, do any of you have experience in holovids? Filming, editing? Do people still watch holovids these days?"

“Hm, actually think I’m going to find my own way. Good luck guys! Have fun!” Shotgun yelled before departing the group very suddenly.
