Please answer the questions you were never asked.
What is your base coat color? Normally this is in the range of cream to dark brown, but white and black are also possible. What is your secondary coat color? Do you have one? Some mallons have "points" of color on their ears, feet, tail, and nose. This color can either strongly contrast with the base coat or simply be a slightly darker or lighter variation of the base coat. What is your accent color? This is also usually in the range of cream to dark brown, but tends to be a color that contrasts with the base coat. What sort of markings do you have? Do you have any? This is uncommon in starter mallons, but still possible. Examples: Blaze, Hooded, Variegated. See afrma.org for more marking examples. What is your defining personality trait? All starter mallons are friendly and affectionate, but they are still individuals. Examples: Bold, Curious, Timid.

Today, you have turned six weeks old. You do not know it yet, but this will be the best day of your life. What you do know is that this is a day unlike any you have lived through so far. The Big One has taken you and your littermates away from Home and put you in a place filled with light and sound and smell, so much so that it threatens to overwhelm you. You are not sure why you are here, but it does not seem that you will be returning Home any time soon. After a thorough grooming session to ground yourself, you scuttle up to one of the walls of this Not-Home and peer out through a conveniently face-sized gap. You don't recognize the majority of what you see. It's all more Not-Homes and Not-Mallons and Not-The Big One– Oh! But what are those? Five individuals stand some distance away, chittering between themselves. They look like The Big One, only much shorter and with different colors. Despite never having seen beings quite like this before, your heart soars. "Friends! New friends!" it seems to say. "Come! Come here! Let's play! Let's play!" As if bidden by your silent urging, the five Small Big Ones approach your Not-Home, allowing you to observe them more closely. The first one is [loud], even louder than the Not-Mallons braying and chirping in the room. The second has [light and dark patches on their skin], reminding you of your own fur. The third is [taller] than their littermates – possibly even taller than Mother. The fourth seems [excitable], squeaking away eagerly at the others. The fifth... Well, you almost forgot they were even there. It was almost as if they were [invisible]. You would love to play with all of them, but you know your littermates will be vying for their attention, as well. Perhaps it would be best to pick one to focus on, for now. But which one?

You're a rat and you found a hole you can fit your head through. You have no collar bone. You crawl through that hole and chitter to all your Mallon friends to do the same, and go and visit the shy one right now together! They're probably lonely!

Figuring that your littermates would ignore the [invisible] one, you decide to focus your attention on them. Immediately you begin to work at pulling the rest of your body through the gap you've been sticking your face out of, too excited to be patient and wait for the Small Big Ones to come to you.
Fortuna rolls a 20-sided die. She rolls a 6.
Before you can make it through, however, the [tall] one dashes forward, pushing you back into the confines of Not-Home and pinching the gap closed so that you can no longer escape. Despite their size, it seems that this individual has [good reflexes]! Your attempted break-out draws the rest of the Small Big Ones closer, as well, chittering excitedly at your antics. Of course, once they're all within range, the rest of your littermates scramble over themselves in trying to greet them, scattering their attention and leaving you to pursue your original plans. Rearing up at the [invisible] one's lowered arm, you grab a hold of their massive paw and begin licking their claws furiously. You aren't entirely sure if they're accepting of the gesture, as their body language is far more difficult to read than that of a fellow mallon, but they do lower their other paw and scratch you behind the ears. While you are so preoccupied, you keep an eye on the other Small Big Ones and what your littermates are doing. Most of them seem to be swarming in front of the [loud] one – how [popular] they seem to be! A decent number are also fawning over the [talkative] one, though, and it's easy to see why. Something about them just strikes you as being [adorable]. The rest are gathered before the [tall] one and the one with [skin like your fur]. You guess the show of [good reflexes] from the former impressed some of your littermates, and the latter has a sort of [calming presence] that cannot be denied. You're still the only one interacting with the [invisible] Small Big One. Will you stay with them, or will you move on to one of the others? |
