okay well the moral of the story is never give out hints ever ;3

here's the rules

all these rules ignore capital/lowercase.

rule 1. post subject must not contain 're'
rule 2. post must include 'pre' and 'post' at least once, and all 'pre's must come before 'post's
rule 3. post must contain a double letter, like the two t's in letter
rule 4. no bbc codes at all. this rule i mostly made to make my life easier
rule 5. the most complicated one:
each post has a segment of letters, defined below. to pass rule five, your post's segment of letters must be an anagram of the previous posts' segment of letters

segment of letters is all the alphabetical characters between the last 'pre' and the first 'post' (all non alphabetical characters are ignored)
if a post does not have 'pre' in it, then the segment of letters will start at the start of the post.
if a post does not have a 'post' in it, then the segment of letters will end at the end of the post.
if a post has a 'pre' and a 'post' in it, but in the wrong order, then everything before the first 'post' and everything after the last 'pre' is the segment of letters.

the segment of letter's does not include the 'pre' and 'post' in it. Even if the last person's segment of letters wouldn't allow you to have a double letter, you could just write 'ppre (anagram) postt' to satisfy rule 2, 3 and 5.

in other words, if a post's subject is "re: post making contest" then it automatically fails rule 1 and 2, since there's already a 'post' without a 'pre' before it.
also that meant, most post's segment of letters would be "RE", making most posts pass rule 5 unless they changed the subject, or had a 'pre' later in the post, or came after a post whose segment wasn't "RE"

ix's posts had 'previous post' in it, making the segment of letter 'vious' and passing rule 5.


my original rule 5 was just 'post must be an anagram of the previous post' but i realized then, if the previous post didn't have the right letters, you wouldn't necessarily be able to pass rule 5 and rule 2 & 3 at the same time, violating our agreement that 'all posts should be able to win' (made back when some posts couldn't win if they weren't a prime number post).

while adjusting it to make it rule that allows everyone to pass it, i also included the stuff with the pre and post so that there would be a clue to rule 2, since no one would get that until they randomly guessed that they needed a pre and post in the right place

edit; previous post is the last post that isn't one of my posts

so ultimately,
the intent was that rules 3 and 4 could be figured out easily, then rule 1 probably after more experimentation.
then you'd experiment with rule 5 and figure out that 'pre' had something to do with whether it failed or not, and then, including 'pre' in your posts, would start to pass rule 2, and then you could start figuring out rule 5 in its entirety.

Okay it seems like Credit presumed he'd have more time to construct a ruleset, so whilst the champion's crown is still mine to give I'd like to offer second dibs to Kaynato and if they don't want it/aren't ready for it then it's up for grabs for whoever does.
