The Company you Keep

You have been fired. Your hand, scalding from the coffee, shakes. Decaf was unpalatable to the high-and-mighty shrimp that was your boss, as you are now informed by his new jockey. Business moves fast, they say. And I am fast, they say.

For all you've done, you got nothing. Your enemy, Coffee Prick, points to the door. You resist their social damage.

Serve him the coffee anyways, with force.

You splash the Coffee Prick with a taste of its own bitter two-creams-and-a-sugar medicine, causing critical burns to their susceptible face. The Plastic Potted Plant looks on, apathetic to the current situation.

Coffee Prick, defeated, awaits a verdict: Acquire? (Y/N)

Regardless of your decision, you may choose to delve deeper into the company's foyer or retreat to the street's uncaring solace.

You turn down the Coffee Prick, instead taking only their Suit Jacket. You haven't defeated the Plastic Potted Plant, and instead haul it outside, a improvised rebellion against the corporate machine. The suit jacket accommodates its rigid plastic leaves, but has no persuasive power over the PPP.

Returning to the fragrant bean palace that is the Coffee Dungeon, you regard the dwindling morning traffic. You automatically move to queue (a Jockey's first instinct) but are blocked by a Precaffeinated Grump.

What do you think you're doing bringing that in here, they demand. They wait. Helloooo, they assert, is there a brain in there? Get your suit plant outta my face.

Another annoyance, tarnishing what should be a respite from the cruel outside world. The Barista nods in the distance, acknowledging your most righteous ally (the PPP disagrees) and its dapper form (...).

Grab the suit and throw it on the Grump's face to stun them. Then drop the plant on their head.

You rip the Suit Jacket off the plant and throw it, but the Precaffeinated Grump immediately bats it down. Your Suit Jacket has been defeated.

Its sacrifice was not in vain, as the moment after striking down the Suit Jacket, you bashed them with the Plastic Potted Plant.

PPP is pretty pissed with its treatment, and has become an enemy! Its plastic leaves poke at your unsuspecting scalp.

The Barista calls for the next in line, but on the main, no one cares about this transgression.

Give the plant a lovely kiss as a form of apology, then shove the Grump out of the way and get your daily coffee fix.

You try to pull a ridiculous and elaborate coffee tariff rouse on the dazed Precaffeinated Grump, but their faculties are too clouded to attend to your lies. You instead shove them out of the way and reach the queue's peak, grabbing yourself a piping hot coffee. The embarrassment of being called on holding up the line, combined with the physical damage dealt by the push, was enough to defeat them before they hit the ground.

God, you think with the coffee in hand, this is so right.

You set down the plant, and try apologizing to it, but PPP isn't having it: your social damage bounces right off. You tuck in a little kiss. The plant is pacified, but still undefeated.

You find yourself surging with power! Finally, after so many years of life, you have achieved your first rank up. There are so many options, you aren't sure what to choose. Not that you have to right away. It's important to consider such a significant change.

You could descend further into the coffee dungeon's "Dine-In" section, or really whatever you want. As a free jockey, you are the master of your own fate.
