Master of the Labyrinth [SIGN UPS]

JOIN #mazewizards. A lot of the action will take place there!


based off of the board game master labyrinth, tabletop roleplaying games, and league of legends.

This is a maze-based tabletop game where each player strives to become as powerful. To do so, they shift the maze to open pathways to magic ingredients in order to level up.

They also fight monsters and even each other in order to become stronger and maybe find a way to escape the maze entirely!

This is a four player game. Each player plays a different wizard of a different element: Fire, Earth, Water, Wind. I'll get into the differences between the elements later.
This is a competitive game, but you will also need to cooperate to defeat common enemies.

So you, whatever you are, have been pulled from wherever you are from, chosen for some reason to be a champion for some elemental god to win a tournament by killing the others.

But is this actually what you will do?

This game is supposed to be competitive, but you will also need to work together to meet certain objectives, like fighting some bosses.

The Maze

The game take place in a labyrinthine arena, filled with items and other mystical things.

It looks like this:


Players take turns shifting the labyrinth around by pushing a row or column of tiles until one tile is pushed off and one tile is pushed on to fill in the gap.

The next turn, the next player takes the tile that was just pushed off.
They choose another spot to push it back in to shift the maze!

By shifting the maze, new paths are opened, and old routes are closed!

After a maze is shifted, the player moves their token down a path as far as it takes to go where they want to go, which is usually to pick up an item!

Collecting items gives you gold to spend on combat stats, making you stronger! Collect points to become as strong as possible!

Combat

When fighting, you battle on a hexagonal grid, like this:


When you take a turn, you must either move a few spaces or perform an action, but not both! Most of the actions you perform will be casting spells, but you can also use items and other various things as well.

Your stats are pretty self explanatory.

HP and MP are how much health and mana you have.
STR and POW increase the damage you deal with physical and magic attacks.
ARMOR and RES decrease damage you take from physical and magic attacks
MOV is the total distance you can travel over the course of one round.

One round is equal to five seconds!
During a round you spend two of those seconds performing actions and three of those seconds moving!

When you fire a missile, it'll take a few turns before they hit your target, so you have to predict where your target will be ahead of time. For this reason, you will sometimes need to choose a direction to fire in.



The six main directions are
1 - red - north
2 - yellow - north east
3 - green - south east
4 - cyan - south
5 - blue - south west
6 - magenta - north west

There are also directions between those!



As you can see these directions are kind of wiggly, but they're pretty much straight. They are named with two digits, the ones of the main directions they are between! In addition, the first digit is the one they start going in first!
For example, 16 goes in direction 1 first (north), then in direction 6 (northwest) then back 1, then 6, wiggling that way forever until it hits something!

Outside of battle

When you're not fighting each other, you are in a party with others exploring the maze and discovering its secrets and interacting with its NPCs.

Stats that manage how well you succeed with various tasks, such as opening locked doors, discovering hidden items and getting quests from NPCs, include your DEXterity, WISdom and CHArisma modifiers.

These will improve the numbers you roll on the dice, which determine how successful you are at doing things.

Distribute 4 points to add to the above values!
The modifier is a number added to your roll when doing a check to see if you succeed doing something dextrous, wise or charismic.

there is no reserving Elements, so pick secondary and tertiary options

Age must be a real number.
Examples include: pi, -3, 0, 500000, 2.1, .00000001, sqrt2.
Don't do this: unknown, infinity, 2+5i, youngest character
Age has a factor in gameplay, so it has to be a real number.


You can be whatever species you want to be, as long as there is no actual advantage or disadvantages over other regular characters. Since I'm only just making up this game I don't want unfair advantages to happen based on what the players made up instead of what I made up!

This game hasn't been done before, I think, so I don't know how well it will work, but if you want to do it anyways, you can ask me for GM rules, and maybe consider adding your own spin to the game
