It is an an alternate dimension.

Diagnostics, run. It reviews its memory banks: Orbital grav-chute insertion into co-ordinates 33°43'26.16"N / 117°40'21.61"W.
It observes its surroundings.

The plastic bags make unpleasant noises as the robot wriggles its way clear.
It floats gently back down, notably above the ground, bobbing gently, and moves right.

As the robot approaches the metal shutters, its visual processors come close enough to identify the shapes
around it and ceases filtering them out. It sees a puddle of thin, black substance pooling under the shutter.
It sees a control panel and attatched cable.
Evidence added to its Conclusion, but what now? there is only a wall directly ahead.

The robot dabs at the black substance. It is very thin and runny, but rapidly thickens on their manipulator.

The panel has a cable port. The panel has a slider. The panel has a green and red light, both off. The panel has an access cover.
The panel has a small, white cylinder exposed, connected by black cable into the chassis.

The robot moves the slider to the down position. The shutters raise slightly with a rusty, drawn out screech screech.

The robot thinks it hears a whirring noise, but the screeching drowns it out.
It stops holding down the slider and the shutters whirr closed, hitting the ground with a clatter.

The robot adjusts its lenses and looks around. It is in a courtyard surrounded by high walls. On one wall, a chained-shut large gate is present.

The whirring starts up again, then stops, then starts, a few seconds each time.

The robot climbs up to the top of the wall to look more closely. There definitely seem to be distant wooden houses at the waterside.
