RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Infrared - 03-26-2013

Im feeling that unbearable back pain I haven't felt in a while, I didn't go to work (and I need the money), I had to cancel the appointment with my therapist (and I really wanted to go) and now I discover the Internet has been cut off due to lack of payments. It doesn't make that much of a difference since I don't feel like doing anything but damn. This is going to be a shitty day.

After a thorough review of [the agency you work for]'s [...] benefits, the company will no longer be offering Holiday Pay to its [employees], except where we are obligated to do so by certain client agreements. We have determined that this policy change applies to you; therefore, you will not be eligible for Holiday Pay for the 2013 Memorial Day holiday or any subsequent holidays.

Those types of blanket (welp, gonna ruin your expectations) statements are easily some of the worst things to hear.

Holy shit supes.

Hope you/things are alright in the end :/

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Mythee - 03-28-2013

Is there any way to get help from police or security? Or to at least take a train out of the danger zone? Q^Q I'm concerned.

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - AgentBlue - 03-28-2013

o no

Do you think it's safe to PM some of us? Even so, if you fear for your life it's probably a good time to make plans to get out, or get some support, or something else.

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Solaris - 03-28-2013

ahhhhhhhh

supes i hope it gets better i hope it does :<

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Mythee - 03-28-2013

I... I don't understand what could be above the police's heads in terms of helping people against life threatening dangers, it's their job. D8 Unless they're part of the problem Q^Q
Have you been able to talk to it to anyone around you? Or maybe you'd be able to talk about it through Skype or Google Talk, if ever you want to? It sounds like you really need help.

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Gnauga - 03-28-2013

You shouldn't talk about it any more on a public forum if it's something like that, but you know how much you can say in private conversations with friends you trust.

If there's anything you need done in case you can't make it to the internet in a while, let one of us know.

I have adopted DuckDuckGo as my new default search engine and never looked back.
It's pretty good, but to be fair, it doesn't do everything Google does. For one thing, it doesn't track your search history and sell it to marketers. Or filter your results so you live in a little bubble of your own previously-expressed opinions.

I'm super happy to hear that superfrequency is super safe!
Better to be safe and silly than in mortal danger.

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - MaxieSatan - 04-01-2013

ha ha that dumb superfrequency was worried about something.. what a dumb silly butt.

(Sincerely though, I was pretty concerned and I'm glad to hear that things turned out alright! c: )

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Infrared - 04-01-2013

Yeah!

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Solaris - 04-01-2013

Edit: Why do I bother trying to cheering up people in the "Flipping Shits" thread. Why

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Jacquerel - 04-01-2013

This is the kind of topic people would be given very stern looks at for posting April Fool's jokes in and as such it is in pretty bad taste to accuse anyone of that

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Gen - 04-02-2013

Glad to hear you're safe also, and don't feel embarrassed. Better to be safe than sorry. It's infinitely better than having friends who are non-chalant about serious matters of their well-being.

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Mythee - 04-02-2013

I'm really, really glad that the situation has diffused, Super. I was worrying about it every day.

As for your sister's family imposing on you, I hope that they will soon respect your needs. It's really nice of you not to kick them out even if they're outlasting their welcome. Good luck to all of you!

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Plaid - 04-03-2013

I'm glad you're okay, Supes. I hope things get better for you soon :S

In other news, i am absolutely furious with my tutor

This story is going to be long and i apologise.

Yesterday a friend and i didn't go into class, and instead went to do some errands around town (as we're not allowed to do, usually, due to being on report). My tutor has basically told us we need to do 8+ hours a day of class and to treat it 'like a job', but we're not really allowed lunch breaks and thus can't get anything done during that day, so we just decided fuck it and went anyway. I at least had a class related reason; i needed to go shopping for some art supplies. We also ended up visiting a store to ask about selling some of our art there and went to my old class building to talk to our tutors from last year. It was really nice seeing them, and they seemed to appreciate us checking in.

Anyway while we were there, we mentioned offhand that in the first semester, my current tutor (Janet, though there are other tutors who assess us) kept mentioning that she had no idea how to assess my friend's project as he is making a game. We didn't tell our old tutor who we were talking about, and we said that now we were on track etc. Today, Janet came storming into the room and said that she had heard that we had both said that the tutors had no idea how to assess our work, and then gave us a lecture on how the only problems they would encounter with assessing were with us not doing enough work; especially me even though i wasn't involved. I told her that wasn't the context at all, and she left again in a huff. Every single student in the class wtf'd at what happened; it seems like she took it personally? Even though we didn't mention it was her?

Anyway, later on she came in and implied that i had lied about buying new art supplies and had just been lazing around all of yesterday because i hadn't brought them in, despite the fact that i was drawing that day and had brought (bulky) papercraft supplies, and the fact that we had run into one of the other fine arts tutors at the other campus and at the art store. At this point i was fuming.

She came in again later and noticed that i had (a week ago) set the backgrounds of the computers to a picture of my face, and asked why; my friend mentioned that he had done something similar. She then asked us if we even wanted jobs, going to my most hated pet peeve (the good old 'when you're in the real world' speech)and then looked surprised that i've been employed as a junior designer before

As if goofing around with peers once during class is a good indicator for what i'd be like in a work place

I'm so fucking mad

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - chimericgenderbeast - 04-03-2013

Right so in organic chemistry we have this project worth like half our lab grade or whatever, it's the big thing-- it's an independent chemical synthesis, we have a project mentor but it's otherwise independent. I happen to have the double misfortune of choosing a project run by a new professor, and a project that said new professor has never actually done before. Or uh, anyone has done, literally the only literature on the topic is the first step. Said first step requires multiple days of attention and is long and arduous and dull (it's got a three-hour stir, then you purify it a bit and add some more things and run it on a twenty-four hour stir and then purify it again, so you have to come in overnight). I had hoped after last week it'd be over with but nope, turns out I have to redo all that work.

And this is all for no adequately explained reason, too, because we're using our step one product for running the step two procedure as well, so clearly it's not a case of it not being viable so much as an idiotic professor's whim. I have to do two lab steps in one week and spend a fucking ridiculous amount of time juggling lab-work, not to mention studying for the other bullshit I have to take care of because hey, I have two other labs that require my attention and another four lectures and I cannot spend all of my time doing asinine bullshit for the synthesis you don't even fucking know will work.

The only consolation I have is that everyone else is probably stuck doing the same thing as me.

Lost my notebook.

It had all my notes for the term, which is half over, as well as my workout logs and various doodles.

Hoo-fucking-rah.

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Mythee - 04-04-2013

MrGuy- where did you last see it?! Was you name on it? I would check all the lost and founds of every building I was in, and all of the classrooms I entered/places I hung out, if I was you! I lose things frequently, but 90% of the time, find them back that way. >.< Good luck! I really hope you get it back.

Sanzh, what school is that, it sounds... mismanaged... D8

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - ICan'tGiveCredit - 04-04-2013

Uhhh, I sure hope you mean the term for only one subject.

I lose things frequently. Most of the time I find them again using my AMAZMING MEMROMRY :^Y

But not right now. I just checked my bag and my container full of delicious spaghetti is gone and there's a piece of broken glass at the bottom.

Who would steal and break a glass container full of leftover spaghetti while it was still in the bag.

Who.

RE: The thread for flipping shits (and tables) - Mythee - 04-04-2013

Someone very hungry. They must have been starving to even detect the spaghetti while it was in your bag. But now you are the one who is hungry. :C

The first and last time my mom bought me expensive clothing was a 300$ winter coat ideal for hiking, that was going to last many years. That was stolen from me, along with the 20$ bill and iPod that were in one of its pockets (Fyi I don't have my own iPod, iPhone, iPad or even a smartphone at all, to this date). It was stolen from me in the middle of winter, and I waited cold outside for the bus, for a rather long time, at less than -20 degrees Celsius. That was kind of cruel of the thief. Also, I would not have left that stuff in the back of the classroom to be stolen if not for the fact that there was an evaluation and the teacher made everyone do it, no exceptions allowed.

And then a year later, I saw a girl wearing my coat sitting with other girls. She looked scared when I approached the table. I simply said hello, and asked her where she got her coat. She and her friends all pretended not to speak english- even though they were all sitting around at an english school. They were bad at pretending, too. That... was obviously suspicious. I then switched to french, and the girl came up with the right store where I had gotten the coat. I thanked her and left. There was no way I could ever get proof or get it back from her, and the coat wasn't even her size but she was still wearing it, so nothing could really be done.

Would be nice if people could just ask when they really need something instead of stealing, though.
