Emily dashes out of the barn and brought up a barrier. She just hoped she could get out of the way of the inevitable explosion. She looked around for Nathan and Alcarith. The boy was heading to the restaraunt so she followed him close behind.
She didn't trust him to be alone and safe. Alcarith could handle herself. She used her shield as aglider and floted toward it as steadily as she could.

"We don't have time to waste on the demons Alcarith. Let's get out of here."
"What are you talking about?" Alcarith said turning to her. "Amethyst is still here."
"I know now let's move." She examined the vehichle and found a button that likely activated the flight. "Boy, press that button there."

We need someone to pick up the bomb, or else no one is going to go boom.

Would be nice. I don't mind that there was a loophole to get rid of the bomb, but somebody still needs to have it by the end.

"I suppose Aeon has a point," Amethyst muttered to herself. With only a vacuum cleaner for company, she considered herself alone. "We left the previous arena when Dokuromets was defeated. It is entirely possible that the death of a contestant will cause the 'organizers' to take us away before the explosion. I am not sure that is the best solution, but it must be considered..."

Eximo, meanwhile, was having something of an existential crisis; it knew that if it the explosion was not stopped, any cleansing would be meaningless. At the same time, this barn was quite filthy. Its simple mind was having difficulty resolving these two facts.

Three VC units had managed to avoid being injured in the battle; with even less intelligence than Eximo, they were unhindered by this philosophical dilemma and simply cleaned the barn.

Amethyst looked at Eximo. It was not moving at all. It seemed... lost, somehow.

"...This machine is considered a 'contestant', for that matter... If I were to destroy it now, would that save us all?"

"That would interfere with the cleansing." Eximo suddenly spoke up, with what sounded like a displeased edge in its voice.

Amethyst was taken aback, but decided that it would be relatively simple to change the subject in this case.

"Ah, so you are still active. Good. I gather that you have been in the appliance store for some time?"

"Correct."

"Did you notice anything that might be controlling its rate of descent? The interfering gravitational fields are making it difficult to pinpoint the sources."

Eximo found it difficult to answer this question, because it seemed to have little relevance to the cleansing. Despite that, it managed to explain its experience with the strangely clean cash register.

Amethyst nodded. "That is most likely the control mechanism. Perhaps if we put some of the money back, we can begin to separate these buildings... on the other hand, that might just make the instability worse. Nevertheless, the information is valuable." She looked at Eximo, which was strangely silent again. "Er... Is something wrong?"

It is only a mindless device. It is only concerned with "cleansing".
Yet... It saved me. Is it right to sacrifice it?
Why should I feel gratitude for an appliance? The others are living beings.
But... It still seems wrong to plan such a thing...

There was an awkward silence as a jumble of thoughts swirled through Amethyst's head. Then the vacuum spoke.

"Uncertain of how to proceed with new primary objective."

Amethyst considered Eximo's words for a moment, then smiled at it.

"I suppose we all are. Perhaps you can assist us with working that out."

Amethyst's eyes went over the cash register. Simply looking from the material plain, it seemed completely normal and unharmed. But the material plain was never enough with such devices.

Three of Amethyst's black crystals floated forth, and surrounded the machine.
"Run Preset; Sonar IX"
From each crystal, a burst of white light shot forth, slowly expanding, before fading away about 2 meters from the crystals. Then, the light shot forth again, repeating the sequence.
As each light passed over the register, it cast a strange shadow. Almost forming the shape of a stake of some kind, wedged into the device.
There was a small grin on Amethyst's face.
"No doubt the source of the leaking gravitational energies. A puncture has been formed in the device's magical 'shell,' resulting in the current phenomena."
She giggled a little.
"So this is your plan Mr. Director?"
She quickly turned cold again. She wasn't facing Eximo, rather her words were directed at someone else. Not so much attempting to tell anyone anything, but simply to say 'I know.'
"An intentional sabotage to these devices is present. If I understand the likely culprit's motivation correctly, we can estimate an explosion large enough to fill the space a short period after the detonation of the other explosive device."
She paused,
"ETA is approximately 7 minutes. Not enough time to execute any plan of escape from this space. No doubt, this is intentional."
She looked again at Eximo. The solution, to keep the Weightmaw arm in tact, and survive the inevitable explosion was so obvious.
In fact, it well exceeded the boundaries of too obvious.
This method of sabotage was incredibly easy to spot if one possessed any sort of magical senses. Specifically, the magical senses Amethyst had been recklessly using the entire round. Likewise, it was clearly a method to hinder her escape. There was, almost certainly, a trap.

Aeon took a moment to survey his surroundings. In front of him was three mangled buildings: a barn at top, a restaurant beneath, and an appliance store at the bottom. Elsewhere was the general store, of which Aeon would see was slowly falling towards the mess as well. Inside the barn was Amethyst and the vacuum cleaner. He saw Nathan enter the restaurant, also containing the elusive bomb, now very close to detonating. With him in the sky he knew was Alcarith, the dragon-girl, though Aeon did not know her exact whereabouts. Aeon made his way towards the general store, in order to prevent the problem from getting any worse.

As Aeon entered the building, he made sure the strange flying vehicle was untouched. This was easily done by tying a bit of rope, created by his adaptive tool.

The inside of the building looked fairly lively, though the lack of any customers gave a father desolate feeling. Aeon made his way towards the back, where he saw a refrigerator and a sofa on the other side of the room.

Aeon knew also that he must find the device that controls the speed of which this building fell. He tried the fridge; it did nothing. He tried to tinker with the various appliances present in the store; they did nothing. At last he came to the same room, with no progress. He gazed at green couch. Maybe...

Aeon approached the sofa, taking little time to lift the right cushion. As soon as he did, the building shook. It's trying to push through the restaurant above, Aeon thought. He immediately replaced the cushion and removed the left one. Surely enough gravity lowered and out the windows he could see other buildings pass by. After a few moments Aeon replaced the cushion, giving enough space for the restaurant to lower, while at the same time avoiding a looped crash with the barn above.

Well that was simple enough, Aeon thought. He exited the building, hopped onto the flying vehicle, and left.

Aeon looked back at the mangled mess of buildings. Now, in front of the appliance store and the restaurant were one of the strange vehicles. Presumably, Nathan was still rummaging through the restaurant, while Alcarith is exploring the appliance store. Aeon headed towards the restaurant.

On the porch Nathan's vehicle was moderately damaged, with a number of skid-marks in the grass. Inside, Aeon could hear arcade sounds in the back. Entering, Aeon could see Nathan struggling to make a highscore in the pinball machine.

Nathan noticed Aeon entering. "Hey, what are you doing here?"

"Just making sure you don't break anything important." Aeon replied, causing Nathan to grimace. Nearby Aeon could see the strange bomb, slowly ticking away.

"I'd keep away from that if I were you."

"I'd like to say the same thing about your knife," Aeon replied.

Approaching the bomb, Aeon used his adaptive tool to pick it up, avoiding touching it directly. It read about 5 minutes. Plenty of time, Aeon thought. He exited the restaurant and landed in front of the appliance store, where Alcarith's strange vehicle was perfectly parked. Aeon pressed the base of his adaptive tool with the bomb on top on the chassis, and covered the bomb in the grey metal. He jammed the camouflaged and muffled bomb into the vehicle, where it looked inconspicuous and made no sound. Don't take it too personally, dragon-girl, Aeon thought, as he made considerable distance from the appliance store, as I said, I am just another participant in this game.

Emily landed on the restaurants patio shortly after Aeon left. She was curious about what he was doing with the bomb, but she knew she could catch him.
Instead she had to focus on protecting Nathan.
She enterd the building and aproached him. He had been scuffed up a bit during the landing so she healed him. "YOu need to be more careful, Boy."
Nathan didn't respond. he seemed intranced by the pinball machine. She wasn't sure what he was doing, but she assumed he was trying to beat the high score. She decided to aid him byincreasing his reflexes and perception.

Aeon rode back to the ordinary house, above the jumbled mess of buildings. He would wait there, awaiting the end of the round. He could see that Alcarith had already taken her strange vehicle and left the appliance store.

Eximo was starting to conclude that it had little to contribute to its recently-discovered higher purpose.

"Unable to continue with primary objective. Proceeding to secondary objective: The cleansing. Inform this unit if it can assist with primary objective. Hail Konka Rar!"

It puttered off. Amethyst watched it, somewhat amused, then went back to thinking about the problem at hand. She concluded that the best option for stabilizing the fields would be to synchronize the falling rates of the three buildings; however, as the restaurant's apparently could not go any lower, that might prove difficult. Still, it would be the best option if it were possible. She would have to consult with the others to find the control device for the barn, and to ensure the systems were synchronized.

Meanwhile, Eximo continued with the cleansing. It headed out the door, and noticed Alcarith's machine flying past. Then it saw the bomb.

"Analyzing. Primary objective: Ensure there is a location to cleanse. Previous analysis indicates that this unit has limited use in that capacity."

"It is probable that the lifeform in that vehicle will be better able to achieve the primary objective than this unit."

"Remaining VC Units can satisfactorily complete secondary objective without direction from this unit."

It paused.

"Conclusion: This unit's continued existence is not necessary to complete primary or secondary objectives. The lifeform's continued existence may be necessary to complete primary objective. This unit's course of action is clear."

Eximo made its way out the doors, and set its vacuum in reverse. It headed for Alcarith's machine...
