CATS. They live in our homes. Sleep in our beds. Smother our small children.
We know that one can live safely alongside these beasts with offerings of kibble, artifacts imbued with catnip, and the rituals of "cuddle time", but here in the land of Eagletime, we dare to go beyond routine survival.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, shall be to get dangerously close to these majestic monsters and record them in all facets of their lives.

Today I decided to buy my good friend Sanzh a gift. While checking competing prices on what I decided to buy him I was met with a terrible conundrum. Shipping is really expensive and I wasn't going to get a discount. Clearly there is only one way to solve this, and that is to attempt to rope everyone else I can into buying something from the same place. A few people agreed that maybe it'd be good to at least attempt something like this.

So, here you have it. A thread for nickel and diming companies and possibly getting amazing deals that will make you die from the absolute amazingness that are inherent in great deals. I'll throw things up in the OP if anyone else has any ideas for things that should be bought below.

So, uh, episode one: Motherfucking Serbian Jackets and Miscellaneous Military Surplus.

Hessen Antique is a particularly good place to do group buys from. Any order over $100 gets free shipping, and I can see about wrangling up a 10% or 30% discount from them if I can. The best part of this particular buy is that we'd conceivably only need three people to actually get jackets. I'm down for two, one for myself, and one for Sanzh. One of my friends will jump on and get the third. So long as the total order adds up to over $100 we'll be good to go, so don't be afraid to branch out and get anything that catches your eye on their store.

As for the actual jackets, they're quite nice! Definitely a jacket for anyone who likes having pockets in places they never even considered possible. They're of course not entirely fancy dress wear, but they get the job done when it's less than 75 degrees out. It shouldn't have to be noted how incredibly operator they are.

There are a few finer points in them, especially since so many were made by several different manufacturers during the wars in the Balkans. It basically boils down to you receiving one of two models, the M89 and M93 respectively. The M89 has zipper pockets on the chest instead of pockets with flaps, and the camouflage tends to have more of a brown base. The M93 is more or less the one pictured. I can't guarantee what everyone would get, but it should be a fun surprise since no two are alike.

As for sizes: They have everything from small to extra larges. The page linked above isn't all of the selection, as for some reason they've made separate listings for anything under a large. The sizes in the jackets range from 1 to 12. This makes absolutely no sense, but from experience an 11 will fit someone with a 46" chest, and that's what the extra larges tend to be.

Also for the sake of letting everyone know just what they're getting, here's two hastily taken camera phone photos of the M89 jacket I own.

Yo this is the thread where we reccommend anime and cartoons and stuff. If you want a better title for it, go ahead and throw some suggestions out there.

Anyway what i recommend is Revolutionary Girl Utena, Kaiba, Tatami Galaxy, and
Kemonozume.

Revolutionary girl utena is this super rad late 90s anime that examines and subverts gender roles with this great cast of complex characters and symbolic imagery. It centers on tomboy Utena Tenjou who accidentally comes into "possession" of the rose bride Anthy after winning a a swordfighting duel. Someone who posesses the Rose Bride is said to attain the power to revolutionize the world. Naturally she's targetted by the student council of her school who follow a sorta gnostic ideology filtered through a Demian lens. Its follows all these themes of unhealthy relationships and feminism and sacrifice and its just really neat okay? It also has some queer relationships and this REALLY great lesbian character. Go watch it if you are into those kinda animes that encourage critical analysis and thought on the story. Oh also warning theres a bunch of incest in it as part of the theme of unhealthy relationships.

Kaiba is this wonderfully animated, beautifully stylized sci-fi speculatative anime about a future where people are able to delete and edit their memories and even transfer their memories into another body. Really goes into a bunch of depressing places. Go watch it.

Tatami galaxy is also is wonderfully animated and stylized anime about a college student who makes a decision to join a school club or three. Each episode resets back to the beginning of the school year and has the main dude pick a different college club. Whatever he picks he somehow gets involved with the sinister, manipulative, sometimes well meaning Ozu, and a bunch of other characters over and over again. Its funny, sweet, fast-paced and pretty as heck.

Kemonozume is animated in a similar style to tatami, about a monster hunting group of samurai who go after a strange species of creatures who look human but transform into these horrific creatures at will or when they can't control the urge to eat human flesh. The protagonists are a super-talanted samurai Toshihiko who struggles with his psychological inability to kill and Yuka, one of the shapeshifting bloodthirsty creatures toshihiko has been trained to hunt down and kill. They have fallen madly in love with each other, at first sight no less, so it's one of those old stories of forbidden love. They have to fight off technologically advanced samurai and monsters and struggle with their relationship along the way. Despite the conventionality of the true love at first sight thing, Kemonozume is incredibly surreal, hilarious and violent. Its quite an experience.

What would your heaven be? Would your heaven have infinite burgers that only you can eat? Would you be in a landscape made out of candy and gumdrops where you could hear the joyous sounds of a million clown honks all day long?
Would you always be surrounded by the laaaadies (or manlies?!?) ?
Person B: Naw, you need more than that! Like all of the consoles and walkthroughs!
Person C: No you need more desu, there's never enough desu. Desu desu de--
Okay I think you guys get the point.
However: This is a perfect world/heaven, you would expect that it lasts forever and not that "you've always wanted to eat some person's hair" or something equally horrifying. It should last an infinite amount of time with any conditions you want. If you want to eat potatoes forever then there are infinite potatoes and your hunger for potatoes shall last an eternity.
To start it off how about a tale from an Engine Heart campaign we wrapped up about a month ago. It was heavily influenced by the old Bee adventure when I showed it to my GM.
For those of you awesome people who just can't help but bring a bright shining light of joy and uplifted spirits to your buddies here at the ET-ET, now you can funnel all of your unwarranted, unprovoked, feel-goody clips of encouragement and back-patting right here!

Ever feel like you just want to shout out unashamed praises to your compatriots? Maybe remind someone that you've got their back? Feel like you've just gotta tell someone how fantastic you think they are? Look no further! (or do! this isn't a corral or cage for the good natured please-and-thank-you teamship we've got going on here, but it is a bright red hot-spot on the encouragement density chart!)

So go ahead! Let people know what you really think about them. You can be chipper or solemn, serious or frivolous. The only rule here is that anything you say must be 100% well-meant and intended to make someone else's day just that much better!

We're embarking over a half-mountain/half-forested region. My hopes are to find some giant eagles, capture them, and tame them, but I'm more likely to get them from some elven traders. I'm be willing to nickname dwarves after eagletimers if you feel a resonance with one of these fellows

Let's get started.

While I dig out a properly designed and laid-out fortress, I punch out a hole in a little hill up north. Nothing fancy, but it'll do. A dog chained near the entrance and a dorm along the west. At the end is a mess of food, drink, and the workshops that made them. The brown junk is farm plots, currently growing everything I can. Variety in booze is very important for dwarven survival. One floor down is a temporary dining hall, a circle cut out of the sand with a flurry of tables, chairs, more workshops, and nestboxes for the peacocks that I brought.

Next is the main entrance. While I typically use doors, building destroyers, such as trolls and ogres, can break down doors. Building destroyers can't destroy straight up, however, so I used floor hatches and a short underpass. Also a dog chained up like the temporary mud hole.

The beginnings of the main fortress, one z-level down from the previous picture. I'm going for circles because circles are cool. The triangles are ramps, which look pretty from a design perspective, but the way I laid them out sucks for rapid up-down transit so I added a ring of up-down staircases in the center, which are the 'X's. Over to the right is an under-construction tunnel to an under-construction farm. Spring ends somewhere around here. Summer commences

My first migrants! What valuable skills do they bring to our fortress? Overall, jack shit. I'll give the abbreviated version for migrants.
Meng Adasen (Sungravel) is an adequate engraver. He might be useful later, but for now he's our new chef, incidentally replacing our mason/temp chef Zon Admiredmetal.
Eresh Ducimrovod (Workarch) is a novice ranger, meaning he hunts and traps. He also has the "animal dissector" skill, which currently has no use. Ironically, his preferred meal is vegan.
Ber Cattenvathsith (Channeledsquares) is a novice farmer, who wants to do general farming but is 25-years-old and wet behind the ears. She has been relegated to do all the farming/related jobs that only happen occasionally like butchery, tanning and milling. I had her butcher the two horses that pulled our caravan here. It's not like they were going to be good for anything else.
Cerol Fikodthoth (Glazeaura) is a prime example of the infamous lye maker. A skill that's related to the production of soap, lye makers are often lumped with fish dissectors and cheese making as low-value skills. I won't be making soap for a while, so she'll be on hauling duty until I can figure out what to do with her.

Now you might notice that there's ten migrants on that list. The other six? Are bratty, useless, dwarven children. They do nothing but eat my food and drink my booze. I'd crush them all immediately under a bridge if it weren't for the fact that my four adult migrants who, although of marginal utility, are still working bodies, would throw tantrums. Four spawned from the hairy loins of Ber and Erush, and the other two from Cerol and Meng. Maybe once they're happier, I'll kill the youngest one.

The first thing Ranger Eresh Workarch did was march out with his crossbow, quiver, and bronze bolts and go hunting. I checked to see what wildlife happened to be in the area at the time and a wild trio of Giant Chinchilla. Now I knew chinchillas were generally harmless, but I also knew that giant creatures can be surprisingly lethal. It was entirely possible that they'd get angry and maul my hunter, but it was also possible that we'd be eating Giant Chinchilla biscuits shortly. I decided to let him go ahead. He empties out his entire quiver of bolts into one rodent while the other two run away. In this picture, you see Workarch circled in red having finally killed his mark and the giant chinchilla circled in yellow, surrounded by broken bolts, blood, and chinchilla vomit. Hunting is messy business, you know.
He drags it back where I have Channeledsquares butcher the body, and Sungravel fry up some chinchilla chorizos. Not bad, I say, so I decide to let him carry on. It's good marksdwarfship practice anyway, and they drop as much meat as a horse. Meanwhile I put our useless lye maker Glazeaura on bone carving duty to cut some bone bolts to get some more delicious chinchilla meat. He manages to wound one more chinchilla before it and the third one run away off the map. Saddening, but five chinchilla people just walked onto the map, and our hunter has five horse bone bolts. And we still crave chinchilla meat.

It's now late summer. Here's an overall view of the map.
