Now, how about a setting?

EDIT: As Aryogaton pointed out to me, those horizontal legs don't work very well in a top-down setting. Thus, fixed.

IN SPACE

Re: BREW - ☆ C.H.W.O.K.A ☆ - 09-18-2011

In the belly of a giant space whale, that's actually kept in a fishtank full of Jell-o, in Metropolis Robo-City, which is powered by pinwheel wind turbines.

A petri dish the size of Australia.

Current progress! The pinwheel turbines are completely done. They have (slightly) randomized shades of stick brown, as well as highly varying blade colors (to which they attempt to pick nice color schemes). The exact measurements of the pinwheel blades, as well as the speed at which they turn in their clockwise circle, are also randomized. You can't see the last bit from the still, though.

Still to do:
-A proper depth system - the current one simply won't do, I have no way to change which objects are drawn on top of each other on the fly
-Buildings - those need to be drawn in the village too!
-Infrastructure - roads, mostly
-A mobile viewport - it needs to move with the player, or this is going to be a very small world
-Procedural generation - that's the whole point of this!
-Save feature - so I don't have to restart the world every time I run the program

Progress update again!

At a glance:
-Pinwheel windmills now have cylindrical sticks. Snazzy!
-The depth system works! Woo!

Under the hood:
-The collision engine has been streamlined, making it less cumbersome to use.
-Added a basic screenshot function. It doesn't give them a sequential number in the filename yet; that has to be done manually. I'll upgrade it at some point in the future.
