(I have a perfectly normal house somewhere.) (People scoff at where I built it, though.) (Like I always say, the unconventional location gives it character.) (And at least it works out for me.) (...Most of the time.) [He has a perfectly normal house. Somewhere. Where is it?]
RE: welm. - Reyweld - 09-10-2019 That's right, it's at the bottom of this massive, massive pit. It's down here. Somewhere. RE: welm. - mintyfreshdepression - 09-10-2019 The liminal space between the abstract and the physical RE: welm. - AABowser - 09-10-2019 it's on the moon! RE: welm. - Numbers - 09-11-2019 it's not exactly a house, it's a submarine a fully self-sufficient submarine, powered by energy from deep-ocean vents. if there are none in the immediate area when you're running low on power, which is pretty rare as you have enough battery power for a good 3 day's time, double if you are on low-power mode (turning off systems for plant growth, heating, and other non-criticals), you can always go up to the surface for a solar charge, though this usually takes a day or two to get to full charge. you've had some close calls with some ships when you were in a state like this. occasionally you go up top onto land but most of the time you are underwater. RE: welm. - Schazer - 09-11-2019 It's on death's doorstep RE: welm. - tronn - 09-11-2019 On the attic of a larger house. RE: welm. - cst - 09-11-2019 0
[While his youth was spent daydreaming of fantastical lifestyles he might find himself with- living in a self sufficient submarine, for example- his present self idled towards creative frugality.]
[It's not like the space rock he's on has any body of liquid that could sustain a submarine regardless.]
[For these reasons, his house is instead located in one of the great many trenches of Uveto.]
[You could assume that it's only to him that this house is 'perfectly normal' in any way.]
[The sky becomes no more than an inky blur, speckled with winged bioluminescence.]
(Here it is, and I only had to jump a couple of portals this time!)
(Just as cozy as I remember it.)
(If not for Tark busting it all up, it'd be perfect.)
(...Speaking of, I don't see them around anywhere...)
[He has a 'companion' somewhere. Where are they, and what do they look like?]
RE: welm. - Justice Watch - 09-12-2019 Big RE: welm. - Ten11 - 09-12-2019 They are in the ground. RE: welm. - FlanDab - 09-12-2019 Toothy, scaly, and clawy. RE: welm. - Our Lady of Lampreys - 09-12-2019 A little like a fish? RE: welm. - cst - 09-15-2019 0
(Ghhh... Of course that big buffoon is out here digging up my yard again...) (Well, I can't blame 'em; the anteflower sap always tastes way better after it's been filtered through the ground.) (Oh, I just can't stay mad at them for anything, can I?) (You're great, Tark, never change.) (...) [He meekly appeals to a more responsible- and much smarter- companion. What is their response?]
RE: welm. - RedHounds - 09-15-2019 Ask them why? RE: welm. - Reyweld - 09-15-2019 "No...." RE: welm. - Schazer - 09-15-2019 Ok, but they need a certain something for their troubles... RE: welm. - Ten11 - 09-16-2019 Only if he promises to do the laundry. RE: welm. - cst - 09-24-2019 1
(I don't deal with foolishness.) (So naturally, my initial response to this fine display of utter hooliganry should reflect such.) (Unfortunately, even the bluntest of chastising can't penetrate that one's thick skull.) (Nothing can be done about it.) "What made you think it's okay to show up before I even said you could, you-"
"Well, y'see, I thought it would be just fine. You never minded before!"
"I absolutely did, you're just dense. Regardless, get away from that door. I've told you so many times to keep out of there.""But the rest of your house is so empty and dark! There's gotta be a comfy guest suite in here somewhere, 'cause how big this place is..."
"That isn't a 'guest suite', and even if it was, you still wouldn't be allowed! You're not my guest, now go home!""...No can do. It got, uh..."
(I don't even need to let him finish that thought, do I?) (It's what he gets for building with goddamn pipes.) (I shouldn't indulge this idiocy, but at the same time...) (It'd be dangerous if we had any more portal activity around here for now.) (Besides, I do have something to keep him busy and out of my way, don't I?) "...Alright, Francis. Here's what we'll do." "You're letting me stay?! You're the be-"
"Shut up, would you? I'll allow you to stay, and as a bonus, you get to see what's through this door.""That's unexpectedly generous! What's the catch?"
"You don't get to come out until you've finished the laundry.""...So half of your house is an off limits laundry room? For what, all three of your labcoats? Whatever, easy schmeazy. It's a deal."
(What an imbecile- he'll be begging me to let him go after thirty minutes in there.) [The taller figure pushes Francis aside and unlocks the door. Upon opening it, they call out- in an uncharacteristically sweet whistle- someone's name. What is the name?]

Thank you all for your patience and participation to this point. I will be continuing this adventure towards the end of the month, with hopefully more regular updates once we resume. With inktober going on and a couple of side projects, I hope you all can understand why I'm having to put welm on pause for now :-)] |
