Adventure Revival Contest! - Dragon Fogel - 07-04-2012

You know how it is; there's that one adventure you worked on and just couldn't keep updating, but every once in a while you think about bringing it back. But you never quite manage to do it.

Well, now's your chance! It's time to bring an old adventure back from the grave, and prove once and for all that you've got the best adventure you never update any more!

Just post in here and toss me a link to the adventure you plan to enter with.

Rules:
1. Just what adventures are eligible here? I could set a date and say "any adventure you haven't updated since this day", but really, this contest is primarily about updating adventures you didn't plan to update again. Use your own judgement; if I have a problem with an adventure you plan to choose, I'll let you know.
2. You can use any adventure you've started on any site. If it's on another site, move it over here; the contest doesn't officially open until Eagle Time's anniversary, July 10th, so you'll have some time to move things over.
3. Rebooting an adventure is also allowed! You've also got some time to prepare for this.
4. You can also revive or reboot somebody else's adventure, provided you have their permission. (Exception: Schazer Meancry does not require permission.)
5. Collaborative entries are allowed. I'm even fine with letting two people make separate attempts to revive the same adventure, if the author approves.
6. Since deadlines have a mixed track record for these sorts of contests , I will not set a firm deadline at this point. Instead, once I feel that the adventures collectively have an adequate number of updates, I'll set a judging date then and inform you all of it; I'll give at least two months notice, plenty of time for you to get in last-minute updates to try to raise your ranking and/or bribe the judges.
If we never get that far due to lack of interest, oh well.

So, sign up now! Or if you'd like to be a judge at some vague unspecified date in the future, let me know.

Entrants
If there's no link to your adventure, it means there's no Eagle Time thread for it yet!
There's still time to sign up, just let me know on or before July 18. (Local time zones will be respected.)

What are we being judged on?

RE: Adventure Revival Contest! - Dragon Fogel - 07-04-2012

Oh, hey, that's a good question.
1. Only updates made after July 10th, 2012 will be considered for judging.
2. Judging will be based on the overall quality of an adventure. This includes but is not necessarily limited to: art quality, writing quality, plot, characters, and pretty much anything else that helps make an adventure good.
If one of these criteria isn't applicable to an adventure - such as art quality in a text adventure, or writing in a silent adventure - then we'll still consider it, but it had better be damn good if it's going to win.

I think that about sums it up.

RE: Adventure Revival Contest! - Schazer - 07-04-2012

How will this competition be delineated from a non-specific drive to get people to revive old adventures?

Relatedly: Prizes?

RE: Adventure Revival Contest! - Dragon Fogel - 07-04-2012

The difference is that you get to officially feel superior to everyone else if you win.

So, I guess there's not really that much of a difference, but contests are fun and sometimes motivating.

As for prizes, nothing is specifically lined up at the moment; but there will most likely be commemorative fanart from a talented volunteer. If I can't arrange that, well, I'll think of something else to do, which will probably involve writing.
