UNIT ONE: HAWKARITHMS

Unit Objective: To write math questions.

Example:
Exercise 8.18.
There is a set of numbered pigs in a pen, with P being the number of the pig. Values for P in this pen are P=1, P=2, and P=4. P=1 is located in the northeast corner of the pen. P=2 is midway between the center of the pen and P=1. P=4 is halfway between the southwest corner of the pen and the center of the pen. Where is P=3? (from wheat)

Exercise 8.19.
Once you reach this question, please call over your examiner and have them hold a gun to your head.
Please solve Fermat's Last Theorem.

Exercise 9.2

There exists in the isle of bile
A population of cats rather mild
Numbering "m" and each alone,
We start here with each cat at home.

Then each day there arrives another,
A new cat with a bit more bluster,
Making cat-friends with other cats,
But more often among those that are popular:

The chance that our cats become friends
Is the number of cat-friends our old cat has
Over all friendships on the island - plus a bit let's call "a."

Then, when time goes on and cats come in,
When we've got "t" more cats on this isle,
What's the chance that all have at least one friend?

Exercise 10.3 - Three people own differently sized houses, whose exterior surface areas are A, B, and C Planck lengths squared. Of course, since Planck lengths are indivisible, their houses are obviously a positive integer number of Planck lengths squared. Anyway, these people all paint at constant rates (painting areas takes time proportional to their areas). As it so conveniently happens, they each take precisely 1 day to paint their own houses. Furthermore, when B and C together paint A's house, A and B together paint C's house, and A and C together paint B's house, it takes a grand total of 4 days for the sum of the three paint jobs. What's the smallest combined area of the three houses, in Planck lengths squared? Remember, the houses must have a positive integer area!

Exercise 10.3.1 - Do you think you could do a better job painting than these people?

Exercise 10.4 Suppose, supppose, if you pppplease, that pppppiles of ppppppeas fall on Pppppppeater's pppppppplate. (Let's idealize his ppppppppplate to an infinite pppppppppplanar grid). All the pppppppppppeas ppppppppppppile onto one central square. As soon as there are enough pppppppppppppeas in one square to toppppppppppppple to each lower adjacent square while still remaining equal or greater in value, the ppppppppppppppeas will do so.

Exampppppppppppppples:
Code:
0 0 0
0 5 0
0 0 0
becomes
Code:
0 1 0
1 1 1
0 1 0

Code:
0 2 0
2 7 0
0 0 0
becomes
Code:
0 3 0
3 3 1
0 1 1

a. If each pppppppppppppppea is a cm cube, how many ppppppppppppppppeas will there be when the center pppppppppppppppppile is 1 km tall?

b. If Ppppppppppppppppppeter ppppppppppppppppppplaces one ppppppppppppppppppppea every second, I typppppppppppppppppppppe one word pppppppppppppppppppppper second, and the pppppppppppppppppppppppropppppppppppppppppppppppportion of words with ppppppppppppppppppppppppp in them is apppppppppppppppppppppppppproximately the same as in this ppppppppppppppppppppppppppproblem, how many total pppppppppppppppppppppppppppps will I have typpppppppppppppppppppppppppppped during the pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppperiod Pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppeter sppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppends ppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppplacing his 1 km
ppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppile of
pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppeas?

Exercise 26.1

Explain this.

Exercise 26.2

Can mathematics be considered a morally good subject when all numbers said to be natural are without exception either odious or evil?
