[STEVETUNA] - Let's Go Camping - Robust Laser - 02-04-2017
Fortuna is a pretty great game. Real immersive, good at creating compelling characters, and, well, most importantly to you, there are just so many OPTIONS. You tend to cycle through mods pretty regularly. You've got some maintstays but overall they switch pretty often.
But today isn't about that. Well... okay. It's always about that. But today specifically you're going for the Hitchhiker Challenge. It's simple enough. Start with no ship, and when going from planet to planet, you can never use the same ship. Grand theft spaceship is kind of like hitchhiking, right?
You had a friend pick a few mods for you a coupla days ago and you were busy with work, so you haven't had time to check it out yet. Let's do that now.
Code: Stevetuna
Fortuna Patron by AtomicGatorX
Kratos (GoW) [no replace]
Rotom AI
Better Settings Menu v2.01
The Chair Mod
Tactical Combat ~by FFTfan3~
Wild West v0.3 ==ABANDONED==
free dice
"Bird gods" mod -- STILL ACTIVE!! --
Better Settings is always on, of course, and so is the free dice mod.
Stevetuna is, like, basically easy mode. Replaces Fortuna with an entity known as Steve.
And, honestly, you HAVE to see how a Fortuna AI would react to this.
Should probably take a look at your starting options.
This guy's weird. None of the other characters get censored when they use foul language.
You did a full reset somewhat recently, so you’ve only got a few runs worth of Fortuna items available.

The ole switcharoo [on]
Cost: 500
Be able to start with a ship of one god but the AI of another god.
You’re gonna need the ole switcharoo for this run. Well, okay, you don’t need it, but without a ship, you don’t usually get a starting AI. One of your Fortuna slots is taken up by the dice, too. And Patrons are better with company, you think, so that’s on.
Now, the important part.
Here we are. Hitchhiker mode is toggled on.
Patron mods get a little weird sometimes with selection so, finally, let’s see what our options are here.
Fortuna [on]
Show Content
Spoiler
Powers
Fortuna always knows the odds, and can provide you slightly more context on any rolls she makes. Furthermore, after planets have been shuffled, she’ll randomly tell you the result of one of the available planets.
Every now and then, if you get along well enough with her, she may grant you a reroll. She will never grant you more than one reroll at a time.
Pros
-Extra information is always nice, rerolls additionally so
-Generally doesn’t judge your playstyle, and willing to provide her opinion on whatever tactical decisions you need to make.
-Totally up to be the DM at RPG night.
Cons
-Won’t give you rerolls if she’s mad.
-Opinions on strategy often come down to ‘Let fate decide.’
-Will argue with any other patron that changes rolls.
Kratos
Show Content
Spoiler
Powers
Kratos brings with him the gift of rage. At any time he can imbue one of your crew members with a [Righteous Fury], increasing their strength and endurance, but causing you to temporarily lose control of them as they just kind of want to destroy something, or, more likely, somebody.
When Kratos is personally angry, he will automatically activate this ability on one of your crew.
Pros
- If you room trap somebody that you want dead, Kratos can make that happen.
- If you put a [Righteous Fury] crew member in a room with somebody that you want dead, they will increase the chances of that happening.
- If you want things dead in general, you’ve come to the right person.
Cons
-Will not get along with nearly any other Patron. In fact, most other Gods send him into an intense rage.
-Expect a lot of unintentional enraging of your crew.
-Sometimes a Righteous Fury heads towards a friendly character.
Phoenix
Show Content
Spoiler
Powers
Phoenix can never permanently die. If she’s struck down, she’ll return to life as she was a while later. She’s pretty fine with it. She doesn’t want to die, but in the same way you don’t want to fall off of a skateboard. Inconvenient and painful, but just unavoidable sometimes.
As your Patron, Phoenix can bestow some of her power upon your crew. Once during the game, Phoenix can resurrect one of your crew members, without the usual drawbacks attached to it. Or, if you’d prefer, she can split that power a bit, and resurrect a crew member for you twice, with consequences.
Pros
-Safe to bring into any roomtrap encounter.
-Consequence-free resurrection doesn’t come easily! Treasure this!
-Always ready to share her opinion.
Cons
-Kind of a hothead.
-Needs to be reminded about restraint sometimes.
-If you put another Patron in her slot while she’s dead, when she resurrects she’ll automatically boot out whoever’s sitting in her spot. This annoys many Patrons.
Rotomdex
Show Content
Spoiler
Powers
The Rotomdex is looking to personally catalogue all the species of the universe. Cosmodex? What? That some kind of knockoff? The point is, Rotom is keep track of every species that ends up officially on your crew at any point, and for every five species you bring along, he’s got a prize. Could be an item, could be a bonus to a crewmember.
The species being tracked do not need to stay on the crew to be counted, nor do they need to survive.
Pros
-Free stuff! Everybody likes free stuff!
-A fun camera mode!
-Regular encouragement!
Cons
-You really don’t get much control over your rewards.
-Rotomdex will not retroactively archive crew that you had while he was not your Patron.
-The distinct possibility that Rotomdex is collecting this information for nefarious purposes.
Raven
Show Content
Spoiler
Powers
Raven can “steal” powers from other Gods. Not the whole amount -- they don’t lose their power or anything -- but enough for a usage or two of their ability, or for a short period of time if the power stolen is more passive. He only has to be in the same room as his target very briefly in order to nab it.
Unfortunately, he’s not particularly competent at using these powers. They’ll do approximately what they’re supposed to do, but usually with side effects. You should see what happened last time he stole the power of the sun.
Pros
-Versatile! Raven can hold multiple powers at once.
-Raven’s sneaky. He can steal powers, sure, but he’s also good at stealing other things if he needs to.
-Excessively proud, sure, but he’s cultivated some loyal fans who he may be able to get to help your crew out.
Cons
-Kind of an asshole.
-Power failures can range from mild to disastrous, with particularly bad side effects being rare, at least.
-Glitches when stealing a few vanilla powers, and most mod powers. (Bug status report: WORKING ON IT.)
Kratos
Show Content
Spoiler
Powers
When Kratos is your Patron, your crew will always believe in the captain, no matter how dire the situation gets, and they will not leave the crew because of it. If the captain dies, however, it will hit them much heavier morale damage than usual.
Pros
-Kratos is very friendly, and tends to see the best in people. If you’ve got a friendly playstyle where you’d rather talk before fighting, you’re going to get along great.
-Knows a lot about the other gods, and is probably willing and able to talk to them for you. He’s done a lot of favors for the others, so it’s not too hard for him to wrangle most anybody.
-Looks like a cop. Intimidating by default and others tend to assume there’s consequences for defying him, even when there really isn’t.
Cons
-While Kratos is totally willing to believe in others, he’s also really quick to fold to others. He’s not into forcing others into favors. He also gets really upset if he finds out that somebody he considers a friend has been lying to him.
-Really not an asset in a fight. Even if you have another patron that gets attacked in a roomtrap, he’ll still be trying to talk your enemy down rather than use any sort of force.
You're sold on Fortuna being one... at least for now. If your theory is right, she may not have to stick around that long. But at the moment you also need a companion for her.
Okay, so after the points you’ve already spent, you’ve got 2200 points remaining. How should you spend them.

Fortuna, though doing so may screw with the canon if you don't check with Gime though.

Fortuna and Rotomdex for patrons.
Get a second fortuna item slot, then get both the shrink ray and the growth ray. Think of the possibilities!

RE: [STEVETUNA] - Hitchhike To Fortuna! - Arcanuse - 02-05-2017
After we ditch Fortuna, a party of Kratos and Kratos sounds great.
RE: [STEVETUNA] - Hitchhike To Fortuna! - Robust Laser - 02-05-2017
Mmmmm…. Alright, you’re taking Fortuna along anyways, so if she’s gonna give you more information, she’ll probably tell you about the rolls anyways. So you’ll sacrifice your free dice, in favor of shrinking and growing things. You earned that for a reason, dammit.
Furthermore, you think you’ll bring along the Rotomdex along. You like prizes.
Anyways, now that we’ve got prep out of the way, it’s time to… do more prep!
New game start!
Greetings, Player. I am Fortuna, but I'm sure you're aware of that. I'm eager to assist you on your journey to my home.
Gzzt~ Hey there! I'm Rotom, nice to meetcha! I'm your-

Are you okay, bzzt~?
I feel uncomfortable.
Well, okay then.
SO, GZZT~ HEY THERE PLAYER! Gotta choose a ship!
Oh! There's no ships. That's kinda weird, huh, bzzt~? Looks like you get to pick an AI, though! Well, I know what I'd pick, gzzt~!
I apologize for that, Player. Allow me to provide some advice on your choice of AI. A Raicho is very good at handling whatever fate may throw at it, if you allow it to pilot a ship in between planets, while the Liderc are competent, but not as fortunate in general. Phoenix don't often stay down if struck by unfortunate circumstances, and Ravens tend to flourish under extreme luck, either good or bad.
I'd pick a Rotom! Because I'm great, gzzt~!
If I had to decide, I would probably choose...
[FORTUNA ROLLS A 7 SIDED DIE. SHE ROLLS A 2]
Kratos.
Gzzt~, I like your style.

We probably will really need an AI this run and it's not like we can tell them to wait in the ship so they don't get killed, so we should def go with the one that can't be killed anyways
RE: [STEVETUNA] - Hitchhike To Fortuna! - Futurdreamz - 02-05-2017
Alright, Phoenix I vote for too.
