Balancing Act - Reyweld - 12-17-2016 You sit in a room starring at the many screens before you. Since the beginning of your employment, you have come every day and sat faithfully at the screens before you, watching for something to happen. Nothing ever did. You would fiddle with the coloured pens on your desk, occasionally picking up the radio and holding your finger over the call button, but you never did. You have never had a reason to. Besides, you imagine management would not tolerate such behavior. You have never gotten in trouble with management, going all the way back to day one. That was... a few weeks ago? You're not sure; time seems to slip away while you're here. You press your face in your hand and twirl a pen in the other. A screen lights up. 00610: ["Help me, oh god, help me!"] It was a girl, sitting with her back pushed against the door of a small bathroom. The door knob rattled violently, as if something was trying to get in. She was crying. Thick blood dripped from her nose and covered her clothes and face. You gape.
