RE: Post making contest - qwerx3 - 09-03-2016
Slightly exciting (and yet war-less) civ game! (Also, on marathon... never again (actually it wasn't TOO bad, it took only 5 hours to play))
I'm going for a Diplomatic Victory. First I need to trigger the World Leader vote, and since I'm ahead in tech I need to beeline some Information Era tech. The easiest is probably Satellites, since it only requires Rocketry+Radar (instead of Ecology+Penicillin+Atomic Theory for Telecommunications). Through running science conversion, using Rationalism's free technology, and getting a Great Scientist naturally, this puts me up to about 1/4 of the way to Satellites (24 turns to research left) with about 10 turns left to the next World Congress vote. I then realize that with my faith I can nearly purchase another Great Scientist, but at my current faith generation it would take 9 turns to get a Great Scientist, too slow (since it takes a turn to activate the Great Scientist). So I buy a temple and that's too slow as well. Hmm... that's all of the faith buildings... but then I see that the Grand Temple is unlocked, so in 4 turns that gets built. This is just enough to push the faith down to 8 turns to get a Great Scientist, and thus get Satellites (which in turn triggers the World Leader vote in 30 more turns).
Then I check the vote threshold. 28 votes. That's a lot. I do have the host (6 votes), all citystates (16 votes), and the Forbidden Palace (2 votes), but that's only 24 votes. Fortunately I did propose my World Ideology so that would be 2 votes. Aw, I guess I'll win in 60 additional turns. Oh well.
But then the vote comes and it turns out that there's a World Religion proposal as well! Not my religion though. At least I have one of my three cities following the religion, so I decide to be a little sneaky and vote both proposals in. As it turns out my faith generation was just enough so that 28 turns after the vote, I had enough faith to acquire a missionary in said city, and managed to convert my non-capital to that religion. Which was exactly the turn that I needed the missionary to save 60 turns of the game. All in all, a pretty satisfying first Emperor win.

This is scenario #2.
Dynamite Dunes: 650 guests by the end of the third year is hardly a challenge, but then this is only the second scenario. Having said that, I've often thought it harsher than Leafy Lake or Evergreen Gardens (#3 and #5 respectively) - you're given the rollercoaster on the far right to start with, along with the awkward not-quite-L-shaped path that circumnavigates the dune at the bottom, and that's not a great layout to build from! Either you close the L-shape into a loop with a tunnel like I did or you try and build back around it, which is even less nice. On top of this, your starting selection of attractions is not amazing and the research is surprisingly stingy on rollercoasters. Here's where one difference between the original game and these recreations comes in - the original had transport rides classed as gentle and water rides as thrill for the purposes of research, whereas both RCT2 and consequently OpenRCT2 separate them all out. This makes things slightly easier since you don't have to waste your time with chairlifts and log flumes that you're just not going to build in the early scenarios...
(also for some reason the Mini Coaster was researched during the course of this playthrough when that coaster type was not in the original game - this is probably an attempt at recompensing for the Junior Coaster's lack of pieces in RCT2 but it was bloody annoying when I knew full well there should have been the Corkscrew Rollercoaster at that stage of the tree)
(yes I know the research trees for the first five scenarios pretty much off by heart shut up)
One other difference between original and remakes - the amount guests are willing to pay for rides decays noticeably faster in RCT2, a fact I have yet to get used to. Still managed to pay off the loan, though... just had some slight trouble funding Sandstorm (the coaster at the bottom) around the end of year two, that's all...
End of message.

RE: Post making contest - Ixcaliber - 09-05-2016
Here's the second half of the One Piece ruleset:
1. Chopper - post must replicate Chopper's signature hiding pose (see below) by including an empty spoiler with text outside.
2. Robin - post must contain more body parts than can be found on one person; this includes both words and body parts visible in images.
3. Franky - post must be more (or equal) machine than man, this means it must contain more tags than it does words.
4. Brook - post must crack a skull joke, i.e. make a skeleton pun.
5. Going Merry - post must either be edited at time of judgement, or attempt to correct a previous post.

Okay, I have an idea for the next ruleset. It has a theme, but I'm not telling you it.
It has 5 rules which must be passed, as well as two bonus rules that will hopefully give you a clue as to what the rule is.
This post passes no rules.
