RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Mirdini - 09-12-2018 Day Three: A BLOODY DENOUEMENT
The Assembly’s patience with Airey was wearing thin. Throwing out claim after unbelievable claim, even the most open-minded Assembly member was beginning to doubt that he was anything but a flailing INFILTRATOR who’d been caught out by the steely glare of the Assembly’s more inquisitive members. Voice after voice began to call for his head. On the brink of being relegated to a railgunning, he warned of DIRE CONSEQUENCES should anyone dare cast the deciding vote in the day’s proceedings. A warning that was read and quickly discarded, as more brazen voters volunteered for the honor. Unfortunately for these headstrong individuals, Granolaman’s patience has run out entirely. They’ve been watching the past two days of deliberations with barely concealed bloodlust, sure that they would be far more effective personally than this farce of a democracy was, and Airey’s chicanery is the last straw. They walk up to the stage where Airey is defending himself and slam a hidden button under the ADMIN CORE’S podium, before whipping out a massive pistol and pointing it straight at the fast-talking fool. The floor behind the stage slides open in a spray of water and SHARK NOISES. Airey is bug-eyed in shock at this breach of decorum, as is most everyone in the Assembly, but Granolaman is undaunted. They stare Airey down, smile. Open their mouth to speak. “Your lies are sweet, Airey, but reality… reality bites.” And then unload five rounds into Airey’s chest before booting him straight into the SHARK TANK. Thankfully for the Assembly’s DESIRE FOR KNOWLEDGE, the SHARK TANK (which is slowly closing again) is a flashy alternative to Monomin’s BODY DISPOSAL CHUTE, and the SHARKNET soon feeds the consumed knowledge back to the ADMIN CORE’S now-unaltered MAIN DISPLAY: Airey was Vitek Vodyanov, DISGRACED SPECIAL FORCES CAPTAIN. He’d proudly defended his nation for decades, but a shock betrayal on an unauthorized operation saw him banished and forced to resort to demeaning mercenary work to get by. Disgusted by his hollow existence, Vitek looked for some opportunity, some chance to redeem himself with his nation; and in the INFILTRATOR’S plan to bring down the Monomin Research Complex he’d found it. If he managed to return a fraction of the secrets within to his homeland, he’d surely be a celebrated hero once more. Teaming up with the rest of the INFILTRATORS, Vitek’s hacking skills came in handy for their initial entry into the facility, even if his SPECIAL FORCES TRAINING wasn’t be quite so useful in the strange democratic shitshow the INFILTRATORS found themselves in a short while later. Still, he’d managed to cobble together a hack that would allow him to fiddle with the Admin Core’s display ever so slightly each day. More importantly, and unbeknownst to Vitek, his homeland had performed CUTTING-EDGE MEDICAL SCIENCE on his body during one of his many stints in SPECIAL FORCES RECOVERY; the BIOBACKUP WEB that they’d installed would reverse any conventional death with little-to-no consequences for Vitek. Unfortunately, the prototype would only work once before it would require a full recharge back in his mother country’s TOP SECRET MEDICAL LABS. Airey's role action was called INFORMATION WARFARE. As a TOP-TIER SPECIAL OPERATOR AND HACKER, Airey could FREELY ADJUST THE COLOR TAGS on ONE VOTAL EACH DAY. He was also a ONE-SHOT BULLETPROOF infiltrator. As his only chance for redeeming himself in the eyes his country lay with the success of the team he'd signed onto, he was aligned with the INFILTRATORS and would have won when they made up half or more of the individuals left in the Monomin Research Complex and had eliminated any other threats to their control of the facility. Granolaman holsters their weapon and walks off the stage, taking up their usual place leaning against a support column near the edge of the ADMIN CORE. The rest of the Assembly pauses for a moment in stunned silence, before erupting into a raucous debate. It is now DAY THREE. Due to the occurrence of a DAYKILL there is a TWELVE-HOUR DAY EXTENSION. Day Three will end in 36 HOURS, so at 4 AM CET on FRIDAY, September 14. LIVELIST 1. Solaris 2. Jacquerel 3. Numbers 4. Coldblooded 5. Schazer 6. Seedy 7. TehPilot 8. Palamedes 9. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - TehPilot - 09-12-2018 Oh hi Solaris didn't see you there. I wonder if our siren is an odd-night killer or also X-shot since we have both a dayvig and a nightvig? (Or someone's lying, but I'm disinclined to believe that at this moment.) RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Solaris - 09-12-2018 the siren might have some sort of gimmick or a regular doctor protected the kill from the siren or the siren got blocked the two roles that dropped for the mafia were good but not like, especially powerful? they probably have some sort of blocker and some sort of kill empowerment and a number of other toys RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Granolaman - 09-12-2018 If you shot Airey last night then yeah I need to rethink my Siren affections. I figure they were third party but I guess they're less reliable than I pegged them for. Schazer I literally asked you if you wanted to die you had your chance. Forgive my narrow setup thinking; also missed that we have a claimed protective (?) role. I feel at this juncture knowing who Numbers targeted would give us insight into a possible stray killer's motives at best. I wouldn't take it as a definitive tell of the target's alignment. I'm not sure if that is entirely worth it? RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Palamedes - 09-12-2018 What an incredible time to come back to the thread. Honestly I've been in a bit of a personal rut so I'm still really far behind but two vigs makes me wary enough but look how wrong I was about that in nostalgfia (over and over again) so I'm going to chalk it up to the serial killer probably being a serial killer (like, a useful one but still). I'm going to also not talk about a lot of the Airey stuff because there was very clearly a votal gimmick and he's dead anyways. Obvious stuff is the earlier people going after him look really good (Jaq, x1372, Solaris notably), other, later pressure felt a little more tacked on. I feel pretty alright with seedy despite (I say, hypocritically) the lack of posts and reads today, their exchange with Jaq about revealing info didn't seem like the kind of thing scum would throw around - at least, not without pressuring Numbers. Speaking of Numbers they and NTA feel kind of tacked on to the already tacked on Slorange/beru scumteam Airey threw out. Like, previous posts and interactions with Numbers makes me think this is the anti-bussing person to follow now that Airey is scum but if Numbers flips town I'd want to give the other two a good look. NTA maybe because less concrete opinions were put on them but for now that feels like Airey just trying to come up with another random pick. Not a massive fan of Sai putting Laser fourth(?) on their scum list for just 'not being useful'. Opinions given by Sai on Airey and Schazer (other scum reads) seem way more damning than that but apparently at best they're all considered equal lynches. I don't like Lordlyhour' random capitalization. Mark as s. suspicious. More seriously, want to see the promised more from them besides just piling on Airey. @NTA: I believe Slorange is town because Schazer said they were town, and Schazer is town because Slorange said they were town. I kind of really want to lynch one of them because unless this is ballsy as hell scum play or they're lovers my bet on their play would be scum tricking town. That said, I don't know for sure which is the better lynch and I don't like picking things like that at random. Schazer probably based solely on reads and interactions, but that's easy to say because they're posting way more. Back and forth and concerns about some Coldblooded ploy read as very natural, plus there was the intense grilling of the dead that I don't think most scum would bother to do. Add x as a moderate town read I guess? TehPilot is like, right that nobody is really talking about me (besides Sai, who only really did it because readwall and also because I called them out previously), but at the same time I find it interesting that while promising reads and opinions the only thing Pilot's been doing besides responding to questions is throwing out weak probes like this at the two people currently voting him. I don't like Laser's reaction to Airey's votalfucking but it did seem very genuine. Schazer's on the other hand I didn't like in any way. Since apparently it isn't always clear in these long posts: No point in reads, town: Coldblooded, Jaq, granola, Solaris Town: x, Laser Pretty town: seedy, LordlyHour Eh: beruru, Slorange Do not like: Sai, NTA Kill: Numbers, Schazer, TehPilot Question time! @Sai: Like I said I've really let this drop from my priorities, and I agree that Coldblooded is super town, but I'm not sure if I understand how Pharmacy's flip practically cleared them. Could you elaborate? I'm also curious about the Pharmacy/Numbers interaction you mentioned because I don't remember much there (though I'll try and make a quick skim later tonight). @x: Thoughts on there being a town sided vig that hit Pharmacy and someone else, given how we now have one confirmed vig and a fairly likely second vig? @Pilot: What are your thoughts on me? @Numbers: What are your thoughts on me, beruru, Schazer, and Pilot? @LordlyHour: There were two scum on the Airey wagon before his death. Who were they and why? @Laser: What thoughts were you formulating before Airey messed things up? RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Sai - 09-12-2018 Actually, I'd like to know who Numbers targeted each night. Oh, yeah, Unvote RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Palamedes - 09-12-2018 Edit: On second thought Solaris shooting Airey means that SK theoretically could have shot scum!Jaq, but today would have been some weird as hell play from them if so. Tentatively moving Jaq to new category: Almost definitely town barring a ludicrous set of coincidences. Opinions given by Sai on Airey and Schazer (other scum reads) seem way more damning than that but apparently at best they're all considered equal lynches. Everyone in that category was people I'd be willing to lynch, as opposed to people that I wasn't. I tend to prefer PoE Also, given that Airey's power was just color manipulation, I don't want to clear Granola for it. It's definitely the towniest thing that he's done so far, but if they were on a team, Granola would have known that Airey was going to be lynched shortly regardless since he'd know that it was just color manipulation and not actual vote modification, and this way he comes out of it looking good. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Sai - 09-12-2018 That said, the really townie thing about it is that the power was the fact that it was using the facility's shark tank, which makes sense for a member of the Monomin staff to have moreso than a mere infiltrator. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Palamedes - 09-12-2018 Honestly I thought of that and the same for Solaris, but to kill a teammate fairly early on when they're already down one doesn't make a lot of sense, assuming that the extra kill scum would have in this case is a oneshot. Solaris doesn't because Airey's bulletproofing was an unknown, so they'd have been, as far as they knew, killing Airey to try and make a ploy that risked making Solaris look like the SK. Granola doesn't because day was pretty much coming to a close, so Airey was dead anyways. Instead, we now also have extra time to go and lynch someone else, more or less doubling the info we get at practically no cost. Though technically true, and I've already gone and made a new category for Jaq that they'd fit into. Follow up question: Why did you just point out Granola's kill doesn't clear him, and not Solaris'? Also, you very explicitly said that you'd rather lynch three explicit people over Laser, making it clear that you had some sort of set preference. I guess I'll rephrase my question. Why were Laser, Airey, and Schazer considered equal level lynches behind the other three you stated? RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Solaris - 09-12-2018 scum deciding to blow their daykill (they would have at maximum two and thats pushing it) on one of them instead of letting the airey thing play out and discussion get cancelled seems like a bad play? we have a whole two more days to dissect aireys corpse now with everyone alive and are at a point where theres no longer an obvious distraction that provides a safe lynch to latch onto! RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Sai - 09-12-2018 (09-12-2018, 03:36 PM)Palamedes Wrote: »Honestly I thought of that and the same for Solaris, but to kill a teammate fairly early on when they're already down one doesn't make a lot of sense, assuming that the extra kill scum would have in this case is a oneshot. I wouldn't consider them equal lynches so much as lower value. I was pretty sure that Airey was a shoe-in, but I didn't see why scum would claim third party, and their having claimed amnesiac made their claim more plausible, esp considering that the thing I found scummy was a preoccupation with finding SK over scum. I was comfortable with lynching them, but until the color shift happened and essentially confirmed that they were lying, I thought they were less likely to be actual mafia. Schazer I just considered less damned than the others because there were actual points where I did think they were making townie points. Just not enough to make it off of my 'will lynch' list. Laser I already explained - they haven't done anything townie, and being very genuine in saying 'sorry I'm useless' is null. wrt Granola v Sol - I don't think Solaris's kill claim clears them, but I considered them town regardless. As far as why Scumola would kill Airey, it goes like this - Scumola knows that Airey's power doesn't protect them. That means that, as far as they can see, the day ends soon with an Airey lynch, discussion being ended, and themselves being the secondary target and now hottest suspect going into the night in which there are potential killers going after scum. Then, when day starts (if they survive), their ability to go "wait guys I can kill someone see? pew pew" and then killing a townie just isn't that helpful. By comparison, by gunning down Airey they give us another lynch (which does hurt, sure) but it drags them out of the position of being a top priority target. That all said, I can also see why Townola would shoot Airey, because Townola doesn't know that the lynch is about to go through and it both prevents the scum from getting off of the noose and keeps themselves alive. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Sai - 09-12-2018 Anyways, I need to go, but when I get back I'll do an Airey dive RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Coldblooded - 09-12-2018 Nice. Okay, gonna reread sometime in the next few hours, but I think it's interesting that Airey was so confident that Solaris was the one who shot them for some reason. It likely means that the scumteam still has some sort of watching/tracking power in their belt. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day Three: A Bloody Denouement [16/21] - Palamedes - 09-12-2018 Thanks for that, I remembered reading that people had Solaris as the third 'target' but couldn't remember where that came from (and had/have no time to re-reread right now). |
