RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Dragon Fogel - 11-12-2018 Thalia pokes her head into Door 8. A strange clucking sound echoes through the room, but there's no sign of whatever's making it. Votes: Thalia V1 - 3 (Palamedes, awkwardcarapace, Lordlyhour) With 9 alive, it takes five to lynch. There is no more soft lynch. Doors 1, 3, 5, 6, and 8 are open. RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Myeth - 11-13-2018 I run headfirst into the sand room. My home. My sand RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Robust Laser - 11-13-2018 I dive into the Void (Door 5) RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Dragon Fogel - 11-13-2018 Myeth dives into the sand. He feels a stinging sensation on his left foot. Probably just a scorpion. Robust Laser leaps into the void, and fifteen minutes later inexplicably comes flying through the opposite side of the room, then crashes into the floor. RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Thalia V1 - 11-13-2018 I go to wherever the clucking noise is. RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Palamedes - 11-13-2018 If you'll all excuse me I'm going to have a lively conversation with this fish. It seems pretty cool. RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Dragon Fogel - 11-13-2018 Thalia goes poking around trying to find the source of the clucking noise, but it doesn't seem to be coming from a consistent place in the coop. Palamedes goes over to the fish and sits down. The fish asks for Pala's opinion on what was the most significant factor in the collapse of the Roman empire. Votes: Thalia V1 - 3 (Palamedes, awkwardcarapace, Lordlyhour) With 9 alive, it takes five to lynch. There is no more soft lynch. Deadline is Wednesday, November 14, at end-of-day midnight. Doors 1, 3, 5, 6, and 8 are open. RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Robust Laser - 11-13-2018 oh yeah Vote: Thalia let's a thing RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Dragon Fogel - 11-13-2018 Votes: Thalia V1 - 4 (Palamedes, awkwardcarapace, Lordlyhour, Robust Laser) With 9 alive, it takes five to lynch. There is no more soft lynch. Deadline is Wednesday, November 14, at end-of-day midnight. Doors 1, 3, 5, 6, and 8 are open. RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Thalia V1 - 11-13-2018 Wait lemme do a thing first I yell into the room RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Dragon Fogel - 11-13-2018 Thalia yells at the empty coop. The clucking continues, with no apparent reaction. RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Whimbrel - 11-14-2018 I run up and grab the fish out of the water, then run back into the main room, screaming. I throw the fish at VOTE: THALIA RE: ?????? Mafia - Day 9: 9 Days, 9 Jesters, 9 Doors - Dragon Fogel - 11-14-2018 Votes Thalia V1 - 5 (Palamedes, awkwardcarapace, Lordlyhour, Robust Laser, Whimbrel) Rather than a conventional lynch, Thalia is crushed by a large fish. Let's see who they really were! Thalia was the Mafia's Hired Gunjester. Rather than being paid money to kill, though, they instead spent money to kill. They were equipped with a gun that could fire 1000 Jesterdollars at someone and kill them... too bad they didn't start with any money. Or maybe it wasn't too bad, considering that their goal was to fail to kill as much as possible. They would win if they failed to kill eight times, with failed attempts when the gun was actually loaded counting double. Oh, also their gun was cursed and would be passed along through some complicated mechanics if they died. But that isn't relevant now, because Thalia was the last member of the Mafia! The loudspeaker acts up again. "Well, shoot! This ruins my whole scheme. And you didn't even open all the doors, let alone solve the big mystery! That's what I get for kidnapping jesters." A moment later, there's a different voice on the loudspeaker. "We would like to express Glorious Leader Paranoia's extreme disappointment in you all for actually solving the mystery and locating the conspirators. What kind of jesters do that? Have you forgotten your heritage as well as your memories? Thanks a lot, jerks." Full endgame wrap-up, including revelations of the survivors' roles, will come tomorrow. Because it's going to take me a while to put this mess together in a form that's remotely readable. RE: ?????? Unless I'm a third party in which case damn. RE: ?????? Mafia - GAME END: Town Wins Somehow - Dragon Fogel - 11-14-2018 For the record: At precisely the time of lynch, player inventories were quietly updated. This will be relevant once win conditions are evaluated. That will come later today. For now, you get to find out who you are. Identities of the Survivors Robust Laser is the Copycat. Every night, they can visit someone and will copy that player's ability. That ability will then be used on their next night action. An ability will only be copied if no ability is currently "stored". Robust Laser wanted to be a top-tier copycat by not only copying someone's ability, but also their target. They would win if they visited the same player as the person with the ability they were currently copying on the same night. Note that the win condition applied to abilities, not players. If Laser copied someone and their role was stolen, then the new player with that role would have to pick the same target. Also, if Laser's role was stolen, they would win if the new Copycat met the conditions. Anyhow, Laser was town. For clarity, all players revealed right now are town-aligned unless otherwise specified. --- awkwardcarapace is the Censor. Each night, they can visit someone, and if that person has a mark on their forehead, it will be covered in black ink. It would still count as whatever marking it actually was as far as win conditions were concerned, however. They were originally the Jester Interceptor and wanted to have multiple people responsible for their death. They would win if either lynched, or if multiple killing actions targeted them on the same night. --- AgentBlue was the Necromancer. For whatever reason their experiments with dark magic were in the interest of town. Probably because they were really hard to kill. Each night, AgentBlue could select one player and turn them into a zombie. The next night, the zombie would collapse and their life force would empower AgentBlue, granting them an extra life. Before this, however, the zombie would attack whoever they targeted, in addition to performing their standard night action. This resulted in several no-kill nights because I didn't have a rule against targeting the same player two nights in a row, which in retrospect I really should have. Anyways, there's more. If the Necromancer role was stolen, the extra lives would still go to Agent. Furthermore, if the role was stolen and the new Necromancer died, Agent would reclaim the role after one phase, with their new role going to the corpse. Agent would gain a life whenever a zombie died on its own (as opposed to being lynched), or if their zombification magic was used on them through reflection or copying or even having the role stolen. If Agent gained 13 extra lives, they would overload and explode. They would win if they somehow managed to die. 13 was way too high and in retrospect 7 would have still been thematic and worked better. It wouldn't have been achieved anyways, so we can pretend it was always 7 and Agent only barely missed winning. I had a vague system in mind to transfer killing power if Agent actually died but it never came into play. --- Whimbrel, formerly Numbers, was the Orange Gunner. She had a gun that could fire oranges, but didn't start with any. She would win if killed by an orange. As with Thalia, there were mechanics for keeping the gun in play if she died, but it didn't end up happening. This almost happened, but alas, she didn't have any ammo. --- Lordlyhour is the Orangemancer, who can magically produce oranges. Everyone they visited would receive an orange if they didn't already have one, and everyone who visited them would receive an orange whether they already had one or not. If Lordlyhour's target already had an orange, then Lordlyhour would use their orange to conduct the forbidden ritual of Orangemancy. This would turn that player's name orange in mod posts for the next day phase - including, apparently, for the postgame role reveals if it happened on the last day. While their name was orange, votes on them would only count if the votes had their name in orange as well, though they would be shown as counting regardless. Lordlyhour is third-party, and would win if four players were lynched while holding oranges. Probably for some mystical reason. --- Myeth was the Diplomat, a neutral party who wanted to spread the practice of neutrality. Or at least look like they were. Each night, Myeth could pick one player and write "NEUTRAL" on their forehead in special ink that only appeared if somebody tried to write on it - including Myeth doing it a second time. That is, after Myeth visited someone, if somebody else tried to write on their forehead "NEUTRAL" would show up, regardless of the player's actual alignment or the ability of the player writing. A second visit by Myeth would have the same effect. The censor would only cover it up if the full word has appeared. Myeth was third-party and would win if at any point, at least half the living players had NEUTRAL on their foreheads. --- Justice Watch was the Fruitshifter, who had the ability to turn oranges into 1000 Jesterdollar bills and vice versa. Each night, if they visited someone, they would transform all of the target's items. They would win if no living player had readable words at the end of the game, because they were originally the Censor. --- Palamedes was the Two-Timer. Each night, they could select one player and cause them to perform actions on two players instead of just one. The second target would be whoever that player's target chose to visit. That is, if Laser had been two-timed, and visited Whimbrel, and Whimbrel visited Myeth, Laser would visit both Whimbrel and Myeth. This role had a lot of special cases applied to it that I worked out before the game started, few of which came into play. We'll get to those later. Palamedes would win if twenty items were transformed through fruitshifting, because they were originally the Fruitshifter. More to come later. RE: ?????? The intention was that you people would engage in shenanigans and move the inventory around more, but that didn't happen nearly as much as I hoped it would. If I do something like this again that involves inventory-based powers, I should make inventory move around more on its own. Anyhow, this happened at the time of lynching, but players were not informed of the new item until the next morning. This was deliberately done so that inventory-based actions could occasionally be performed without it being clear why. At the start of the game, 5 1000-Jesterdollar bills and 5 oranges were randomly assigned among players other than the Bankjester, Orangemancer, Hired Gunjester, and Orange Gunner. Alignments were randomly assigned independently of roles, although in retrospect I should have made the Necromancer role auto-town. It ended up as town anyhow. So at the final day's end, this is the status of players: Win Conditions Granolaman: a52 died as the Robber. A loss. awkwardcarapace: Never died. A loss. a52: Was lynched rather than being killed by a doubled action. A loss. Whimbrel: Was never killed by an orange. A loss. AgentBlue: Six extra lives acquired, out of thirteen needed to self-destruct. A loss, and would be even if I had cut it down to a more reasonable seven. Akumu: No one ever even got a bulletproof orange vest, let alone got protected by it. Zero points out of three needed. seedy: Reyweld and Justice Watch had non-magical oranges inspected. Two points out of three needed. Palamedes: Eight items were shifted, none of them before Pala lost the role. Eight points out of twenty needed. Lordlyhour: Granolaman, seedy, TehPilot, and Thalia V1 were lynched while holding oranges (Thalia due to the ruling that inventory update happens at lynch). Four points out of four needed. LegendaryQ: Still had 5k in the bank upon dying. A loss. Thalia: Failed to shoot on every night, got doubled on some nights and failed to shoot even more, and got a bonus point for winning the Jest-Off. Twelve points out of eight needed. Myeth, Reyweld, Mirdini, Justice Watch: Among 8 living players, markings are: 2 NEUTRAL marks (Myeth, Lordlyhour) 1 censored NEUTRAL mark (awkwardcarapace) 0 INNOCENT marks 0 GUILTY marks No win for anyone trying to mark a majority. There are uncensored marks, so Justice Watch also loses. CSJ: All players with GUILTY marks died. A win! Pharmacy: Lordlyhour, Justice Watch, AgentBlue, and Myeth all have money. That's 4 out of 8 living players. A win! Robust Laser: Copied themselves on N0, then visited the same player as themselves on N1 while copying Copycat, which technically counts as a win. Ixcaliber: Visited themselves due to a random roll from the reflector, being announced as both visitor and target. A win! TehPilot: No players were killed by reflected actions. HOWEVER, Agent self-zombified three times, which still counts for the win condition. A technical win! Winners Lordlyhour Thalia V1 CSJ Pharmacy Robust Laser Ixcaliber TehPilot The Town Win or lose, congratulations to everyone for getting through this mess of a game, how the heck did I ever survive running this. RE: ?????? Mafia - GAME END: Town Wins Somehow - Reyweld - 11-14-2018 Awesome game Fogel, thanks for hosting it! It's a little funny how I've been dead since Day 3, but I have the 4th most posts. My only regret: neither of me or Palamedes winning. Our rivalry will be forgotten by time. |
