It is not entirely known, amongst however many experts in the field there are scattered across the Multiverse, what occurs when a Faceless first makes contact with a sapient mind. Countless times over, yes, it has been established that the creature acquires the victim's memories, but this is not the full story.

The sparse literature often refers to the Faceless' stealing of a victim's mind, leaving lungs not remembering how to breathe or a heart which has forgotten how to beat.

This is, again, not the whole story.

Rather, it's a story whose entire context rests on another, which in paradoxical turn relies upon the first. Nothing which experiences the second story first-hand has any need for stories - nor, for that matter, does it need to understand experience. Inasmuch as we understand it, at any rate.

Entropics soar uncharted territory - whether it is called the "Unseen" or the "Multiverse proper" or "the sub-interstice" or (by the more sardonic experts) "the place there's no good name for" is mostly immaterial, all being the labels of interlopers. Tourists. The natives are not creatures who bother with such abstractions, nor do they much willingly approach any Interstice and its universes therein. They must, however, coexist with the Verses, if such things do exist - comets of matter and energy (unhatched universes, in effect) coursing the incomprehensible space.

It's a lifeless, thriving, not-quite-space. It's home to creatures without sentiment.

Regardless of their ultimate role in the Multiverse's balance - regardless of whether we could ever hope to understand it - these creatures do exist. They have a story, albeit one of which they are not aware until they find one with a mind to comprehend it. Its epilogue is the Faceless - their existence narrates pain and fear and confusion, learning nothing of this alien place but homesickness, chaos, and a mortality previously unfathomable.

Without a conscious spark, without memories of how unique and beautiful a universe can be without the cacophony of it all shaking you to pieces, this is all a Faceless' senses can render of the cloying fog in which they are trapped, until they burn away to nothing.

Perhaps, there is no greater cruelty than prolonging a creature's suffering like that. And if that were held to be true, perhaps there is no deed so selfless - in all the multiverse - than to spare such a creature, bequeathing without resent or reservation your unique and beautiful existence.

It's hard to say for sure.

You've been done since may, and the planning thread hasn't updated... also, will there be a Grand Wordle II to commemorate another completed battle?

Either way, late congratulations on another completed battle
