I was not aware it had a fruit! Though it would stand to reason.
I was aware that the first year my parents planted it (2011ish) a bunch of birds came in and gobbled up the darn things up right when they were ready to harvest. It was like they’d gotten together and were like, “Dude, you gotta try this black sesame-lookin’ stuff out.” Mom’s more wild about the taste than I am (the leaves have a distinctive mint/basil kind of taste).

The fruit was named before I discovered that it was actually a name for a real, not-fictional plant, but it stuck and I'm still running with it. I wanna try a bunch of different mints, though.
