I dunno, I'm really warming to the idea of two vaguely evil factions originating from the same system, maybe even same planet. I mean Yoth sounds suspiciously like the Schnorikibix's home world...

Hmm, you're right about that. But since I think the Schnorikibix are a bit more independent, I'll go with F3.

(Schnorikibix! hahahah! I cannot believe I got somebody else to say that!)

I can't say I'd think a species that became xenophobes due to believing themselves to be the only sapient organisms in existence could easily have evolved on a planet that is itself a sapient organism .v

Faction Name: The Starlight Slingers
Theme Song: Triggernometry
Color: A Brave Orange (#eb9007)

Species Name and Description: Although any who join the Slingers can live on Dustbowl, the planet is mostly inhabited by the Otlets: Short humanoids (averaging about 3 1/2 feet tall) with their slimy skin ranging from green to purple, with white markings. They have two sets of ears, and their entire face is taken up by a giant mouth, instead opting for echolocation to find their way, although visual bionic implants are quite common. Their torsos are short and stubby, with two long, armored claws. The legs of an Otlet are extremely long for their short size, taking around 3/4ths of their entire height.

The Otlet commonly consume toxic and irradiated materials, and are able to live in environments that are completely polluted and uninhabitable by other species. But other than this, the Otlet lack many natural advantages, their claws needing much care to maintain and unable to pierce good armor. Instead, the majority of Otlet get bionic implants or robotic limbs in order to enhance their combat ability. While these improvements certainly help in hunting the large beasts native to Dustbowl, combat ability is often considered before practical use. George "Gunfeet" Stoth has a very difficult time getting around, although he can shoot with his hands tied behind his back. It's rare to find an Otlet, or Slinger in general, without at least one robotic limb.

Faction History: The first inhabitants of Dustbowl were outlaws and criminals: over a million refugees fleeing from the destruction of their crime syndicate hundreds of years before the 3X Conflict. Although first bound together by their shared love of money and mayhem, this served as weak glue and the group quickly descended into chaos. At this time, a young woman found ancient tomes describing an organization known as The Starlight Slingers. Using them as an example, she became the first Sheriff and gathered a group of people to follow her in a stable organization. After the dust settled, the newly reformed Starlight Slingers were the only survivors.

The old Slingers were people of the frontier and existed in a land filled wagons, saloons, and vigilante justice. A Slinger's only goal in life was to search for an endless array of challenges, each more difficult and more deadly than the last, or to help someone else do the same. The new Slingers based their entire culture around these ancient figures, and thus adopted their creed of honor before reason. Luckily for them, enormous beasts larger than entire buildings roamed the land, and they constituted the perfect challenges to conquer. Although they looked and acted like cowboys and frontiersmen, the Slingers were monster hunters at heart. Even so, it's been difficult to leave their criminal background behind, and the loose vigilante law of the land led to a lot of illegal activity and black market trading in parts of the planet.

At the outset of the 3X conflict, the Slingers saw the war as a perfect challenge, and declared war on the entire sector. More suited to individual monster hunting than any large-scale conflict, the Slingers lost within weeks. Many settlements across the planet were bombarded by PretCorp in the space of a single day, leaving huge craters filled with fallout in their stead. During the coming years the Slingers did their best to reconstruct. Otlets gained a lot of importance due to their ability to clear the fallout, and rose to become the majority population. The Slingers have done an admirable job of rebuilding inside the craters of dust and dirt, forming even larger cities than before since the realization that they need to band together in order to face greater challenges, even if their innate desire for individuality remains strong.

Home Planet: Dustbowl - B1: A planet whose low mass and nutrient rich soil led to the growth of mega-flora and mega-fauna, Dustbowl is mostly taken up by dense jungle and forest. Even so, monolithic craters of dust and dirt spot the planet, and within the frontier-like settlements of the Starlight Slingers reside. Although lacking in minerals, the biodiversity on the living sections of Dustbowl is alarming, and very useful, although in the past the Slingers have ignored this in favor of monster hunting.

I have some Reservations about this game ;3

Faction Name: The Astral Mermaid's Purse
Theme Song: G.R.A.V.I.T.Y
Color: [color#ff00f4]#ff00f4[/color]
Species Name and Description: A myriad of species are collectively part of the planet's official government, but the most noteworthy are Leupaks.
Leupaks are an asexually reproducing mimic species that can have traits with wide ranges, from being a viscuous fluid, to looking like a reptilian rabbit. The general way to identify a leupak is it's shapely body, reptile-like features, external ears, crystal on it's skull, and a tongueclaw. The tongueclaw is used for implantation of eggs into a potential host's abdominal cavity.
Gestation lasts a period of time, and the born leupaks tend to be based on concepts (such as "slime" or "the evolutionary process of rhinocerous beetles"), along with the thoughts, surroundings, and diet of their host. Removing eggs after implantation is dangerous at best, and most of the time implantation is easily survivable.
Almost all leupaks and members of Koir-lund are psionics.
Faction History: Initially the planet was on a nation-state level before an attempt at covert uplifting of the races on the planet was made. This lead to a great awakening, and many experiments were made to create bioweapons for the faction that uplifted them.
The war ended of course, but it was before anything of use could be made for the planet's benefactors. Due to this they were abandoned, and only recently have they made their existence to the sector at large clear again.
And with it came wondrous technology.
Dating back to the nation-state era a handful of alchemists had created a device that would revolutionize their world. A limitless font of new energy, resources, and technology.
However this device had begun to grow at unparalleled rates, and soon after the planet had been abandoned a cascade occurred.
The crystal exponentially grew and warped entire sections of the planet with radiation. This caused similar crystals to grow, and leupaks to first appear. Environmental actions were taken to keep the planet from irrevocably changing, but the damage was done. The original crystal had shattered, unable to further alter reality. The minds who had created it had perished in this catacylsm, and the scientific age had begun by force.
The faction seeks to prevent such horrible changes from coming to pass on other worlds, and brings with them an offshoot branch of the energy and technology from what they discovered, in a safer form.
Home Planet: D1 ; Koir-lund. The planet exists in a binary star system, and the planet rotates with a tilt of the axis that has caused the western pole to face both stars, and the eastern pole to face out at the depths of space. Life has adapted to survive in all parts of this, but the energies from the alchemic crystal have warped the planet into a very dream-like state, with crystalline forests and shifting landscapes.

Faction Name: The Elders
Theme Song: Almost Human
Color: Pink
Species Name and Description: The Elders faction consists entirely of a species known as Eidolon. The Eidolon are able to Consciously modify themselves on an atomic level, which they can use to protect themselves against most poisons and diseases by immediately identifying them in their body and acting to neutralize them in ways normal species cannot. This also permits them to survive indefinitely; adapting to consume any type of food or survive in any environment. This ability comes with a catch however; atomic manipulation requires them to manually alter every one of their millions of cells, which takes a very long time to do. Changing their appearance to match that of another species takes them centuries to do and the act of reproduction can take millennia.

The Eidolon have not yet been known to be able to use telepathy, though they have their own way of secret communication known as Atomic Morse Code which can be used to instantly and discreetly relay even very complex messages to another member of their species with just a touch. It is exactly what it sounds like. Morse code with atoms.

Faction History: They are easily one of the oldest races in the known universe, as their species has narrowly escaped total destruction from an ancient world ending calamity which pre-dates recorded history. Almost all of their technology has been lost when they found a habitable planet, and their extremely slow nature permitted the lesser races to surpass them in both numbers and technological knowledge.

The new planet that they came to inhabit would eventually be known as Spiralan, which was the home world of the Eazin. The arrogant Eidolon believed themselves to be the origin of all life in the new world, and the Eazin took great offence to that. The Holy Empire of Enlightened Eazin labelled the Eidolon as heathens and monsters and actively started hunting them. While the Eidolen were very durable, they were by no means invincible and they had never before adapted to a full scale war.

In modern times, the Eidolon are a largely unknown species with less than five thousand surviving members. The majority of them have changed their physical appearance to be indistinguishable from the Eazin, though they lack most of Eazin's vulnerabilities. The group known as The Elders are an underground organization which performs jobs such as espionage and assassinations for the highest bidder. Their favourite method of eliminating an individual is to create a custom made disease within their body built specifically for an individual person; which is much more effective than one built for a genetically diverse species.

Home Planet: The original Eidolon homeworld has been destroyed a very long ago. The Eidolon can now be found anywhere that the Eazin can.

im very sorry to do this but ive had a pretty terrible last few weeks and i dont think its going to pick up, so i think im going to call this off... i just dont think i can really run this in a way that would be fun and i dont want things to drag on bc of my mood things...

as a parting gift for stringing you along like this (though it was accidental, still!!!) im going to say that like, Destabilizing Events were planned to throw wrenches into things but mostly to burst the three super empires apart.

Dang. The very moment I got my application done too.

Ah well, at least I finished my secret strategy to create an entire buffer wall of civilizations between myself and the evil teams.

don't worry solaris, it's no problem! it was fun even to just make a profile!

I didn't want to correct you before because the whole idea was that my faction looked very visually unappealing and slightly sinister and thus would naturally generate mistrust but I'm surprised that you immediately decided to brand it as "evil" when nothing in my profile really indicated as such. Maybe it was because I used the Ilwrath theme tune? :P

The stuff I sent to Solaris to follow it up was as follows:
Quote:Goals:
As a large conscious planet, Yoth does not actually have much to do to fill its time, and is eager to meet other races and enjoy their numerous entertainments (and especially, to purchase more Eazin VR dramas, its piracy of which it hopes has gone unnoticed) by either sending out ambassadors to other planets or allowing other peoples to live in specially prepared areas upon its surface where it can study and interact with them.

Alongside alleviating its solitude by talking to other sapient species, it also believes that given time it would be capable of fertilising another planet to create itself a companion, but has been wary of doing so up until now because it isn't entirely sure how its own reproductive process actually works, and because such an act could easily be misinterpreted as hostile.

Yoth also wants mineral-rich asteroids to eat, to provide itself with materials to grow larger numbers of body forms and also in case it needs the stockpile to move itself somewhere else.

Resources:
While its creations are all fairly revolting to look upon, Yoth is a consummate master of genetic engineering and is capable of growing very large numbers of specialised bodyforms very quickly, meaning that it could provide a workforce or potentially a small army to other factions in return for the resources it is after.
It can even grow organic spacecraft, though it is capable of very little in regard to inter-space weaponry.
For self-defence Yoth mostly relies on its ability to grab and eat incoming craft, but would be fairly helpless against a concerted military effort.

Its biological sensors are also very acute, capable of seeing and hearing across sectors as well as picking up other people's broadcasts, and as an inquisitive being with perhaps not the fine grasp of privacy other species have cultivated due to being made of individuals, has been spying on everyone else ever since it noticed they existed, making it very good at gathering secrets and information. Perhaps it already knows some things people would prefer it didn't?

Finally, though not necessarily a "resource", Yoth is capable of moving its home planet (itself) around the galaxy, though only very slowly and not very often.

Yoth is pretty much just ancient and lonely, its motivations being to make friends and watch space anime. It's not malevolent.

RE: Esteem Vissal (space game) (im very sorry!) - Granolaman - 06-06-2016

Yeah it was mostly the theme that earned the brand, though the Klendathian motif and the odd stated reasons for contact didn't help.
