My apologies!! I hoped to escape the mess of rules that interact with rules or change themselves but I probably ended up making the rules more convoluted than necessary anyway. (0)

I think the description of the last rule enough is a good enough clue.

I'll say "hotter" or "colder" with tries to pass it, and it ought to go well.
