NEW Day End Countdown RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Reyweld - 08-23-2018 (08-23-2018, 06:57 AM)Palamedes Wrote: »{snip} I view this as a light town tell as well Acio (as it is basically exactly my sentiment), although I already feel positively about Palamedes in general. Not sure why he used "random" to describe it, but probably that is more telling of his thoughts on LegendaryQ versus Scum/Town. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Reyweld - 08-23-2018 Or possibly his opinions about Day 1 in general. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Jacquerel - 08-23-2018 I forgot how overwhelming this shit is if you don't like, post in the game, I will try and be more on top of what is going on tomorrow, at the very least so that I can be interrogated, especially because I'm about to vote for Q so that someone dies today when there's only an hour of the day left. I've been struggling to have any reads on anyone at all to be frank but that should be normal on day one and is a bad reason to not have posted anything. If it helps my current reading of people who have been mentioned is: I feel good about Sai and Coldblooded. Acio I should feel good about but because he has a reputation and posts a lot I find it harder to trust him because, of those things. Which is stupid but there we are. Reyweld's early identification of scum tactics seemed shaky to me and I would say "they're new" but my meta knowledge is that they did pretty passably in the last game so I'm less convinced that I would. Numbers looks like someone who doesnt know how mafia works and I have literally no idea what side they are on as a result of that Posts like "if i could cop anyone it would be myself" are just impossible for me to parse because if you think about it for a second that's obviously not something someone who already knows they are town would want and therefore why would you post that in the thread as either town or mafia I really don't like NTA and Palamedes raising the spectre of revealing anything at all about their role or flavour day one but that isn't a scum read unless I'm willing to believe that they'd just do it in the hopes that someone else will. Schazer and Slorange both have no desire to do anything useful on day one and I know factually in my head that this is not constructive or helpful to town but can't bring myself to take that as a scum read However paradoxically the one person I am finding myself reading as scum who I didn't notice any other discussion of is awkwardCarapace, who while they also seem like a new player has done almost nothing except shitpost and then make posts that to me seemed more like an active attempt to not lynch today, versus schazer and slorange's sort of aggressive apathy towards the concept Fortunately there's no chance they're going to die today so they have a chance to respond to that Solaris is clearly scum but her death can wait until tomorrow. I'm willing to lynch Q for pushing a bandwagon on a lurker as if it was anything other than that, general sort of sidestepping, and also feel worse about them because of numbers' erratic behaviour surrounding them I don't think it's anything like a guaranteed scum kill but it will give people more stuff to talk about tomorrow compared to if nobody died, including selfishly, a lot of reason to talk to me, which is good reason for me to post more in this thread Vote Q RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Reyweld - 08-23-2018 "Solaris is clearly scum but her death can wait until tomorrow" Can I get a preview? Why do you think this? RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Reyweld - 08-23-2018 Also, this is like the nth time someone has said my perspective of scum tactics are wrong, but have you ever considered that they are just different? If I were Scum!Numbers, I would not have made the third vote on the third bandwagon of the day. It would be conspicuous, and not preferable over any other number of options one could vote for and gain no notice what-so-ever. I even considered making the same joke Numbers did. It peeves me a little knowing that that could have been a scum tell on me. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - LegendaryQ - 08-23-2018 At work, but watching. Looks like that'll be the kill considering there's an hour left. Vote Numbers, I agree with Coldblooded's logic there and I think if nothing else it'd be an informative lynch regarding me. Short phone typed version of role since I don't know how much flavor will come through. Apparently a supervirus escaped and started to spread due to the lockdown, and I'm a toxicologist who has a night action of "curing" people to prevent the spread. It was told to me that it spreading would be a "Bad Thing." So that's probably something you guys may have to deal with, it wasn't told to me how exactly it spreads but you may want to take care in who you visit. Good luck, probably won't be able to talk again until bluh post RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Reyweld - 08-23-2018 God I really hope that's a lie. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Acionyx - 08-23-2018 Myeah I don't think Q is scum; hasn't shown a lot of concern about dying and I haven't really felt any real defense of him I don't /hate/ a numbers lynch but not really into killing a new person at the last second Blazer/Schazer/Solaris are good deaths RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Acionyx - 08-23-2018 Jacq if you've got time can you go through reyweld's stuff and tell me what you think of any of the posts positing how scum think/what's "useful" I need an eighth opinion RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Jacquerel - 08-23-2018 I need to figure out the html magic you need to do to get this forum to filter topics by username, given that clicking the number of posts doesn't function right now. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Reyweld - 08-23-2018 You can go to a user's profile and press "find all posts", which still works. And the way they voted lurker and backpedaled right after seems :think emoji:-y I don't think I'm really going to fit into the first one, for assorted reasons. One, I know enough about getting people to believe you that I shouldn't squirm when I'm pressured. Two, I have read that one guide posted at the start of this game multiple times. Three, I won't make many overconfident reads D1, nor do I see myself making any more. That one read on Coldblooded was a mistake and I realize that, and have learned from it. Now for my defense. First and foremost, I think that not speaking in an argument means that you are telling everyone you are fine with the points against yourself, as you obviously are not doing anything to refute them, therefore, I'm not comfortable being silent right now, because, as aforementioned, silence tells everyone that I'm fine with many people saying that I'm scummy, and I obviously don't want that, because according to my role I'm a person who prays to some deity to prevent the killing or lynching of another person. Thirdly, I want to get further in the game, so as to help remove the Infiltrators from the premises. Don't forget, that's kinda what we're here for. Oh, and by the way, anyone can ask my thoughts on a particular person, and I'll answer as fast as I can. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Reyweld - 08-23-2018 Also, @Acio and @Jacquerel, why do you think Solaris would be a good lynch? RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Solaris - 08-23-2018 why do you think acionyx wants me to die RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Jacquerel - 08-23-2018 Argh. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Schazer - 08-23-2018 I'm willing to commit to a (better) bit and also vote: blazerC RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Jacquerel - 08-23-2018 Quote:If their goal was to avoid attention D1 they could have just Not Done That without any sort of risk. If their goal was to further a D1 lynch, they would have picked either of the two wagons with 3 votes. I think the defence of "it was someone joking in rvs" which was the first half of this post is true and didn't need the further justification which makes me like the justification less? "Not posting" only avoid attention for day one and is a very poor long term mafia strategy. People who didn't post today (like me) are going to be alright for the early game, barring a vigilante who hates lurkers, but completely untrustworthy by the end unless they can pull some impressive stuff out by then, it's a poor scum gambit. Scum want to look like they are doing something without actively actually achieving anything, because being active makes people trust you more. Scum don't necessarily want to push a lynch on day one, it's way easier to ensure that nothing happens and the town goes into day two less informed. My reread of specifically just reyweld actually sort of makes me feel like reyweld has said less than I thought they did given the number of posts they have made. Lot of defensive reflection, not a lot of material, which I realise is a bit hypocritical for someone who's made one post of any merit. Which is, something. I don't think Reyweld is really strongly reading as scum either it's just there isn't a lot else to go on right now. RE: The Wander Island Incident - Day One: Incident Report - Jacquerel - 08-23-2018 Anyway Numbers, the guide also says "Resist the urge to defend everything you do excessively" and it's right. You should be alright with people saying you're scummy, ultimately you should be alright with maybe getting lynched. People dying in the day gives town more information than people dying at night, people voting and talking about you gives you links with other people that make it easier for them to trust or distrust you later (even if the things they are saying about you are bad). It is way more important to dedicate your energy to talking about who people should vote for instead of you than it is to justifying your behaviour. Don't write big paragraphs about it. Appearing to be very frightened of being killed isn't a town tell.
