SpoilerYep! I'm putting this adventure on hold to work on some other things.
I've been pushing to not progress the story too much before this perfect hiatus point. We have a place to sleep, Parabella is still in jail, and when we return we'll be doing an intermission and then a recap. What happens after that, I'm not quite sure yet, but hopefully whatever it is won't take another year!

SpoilerHey! It's been a while! I'm really glad I took this break, it gave me time to flesh out some of my plans for this adventure a little more. I wrote this entire recap in case you forgot what's happened up until now. But I warn you, it's not very friendly to new readers, I didn't bother reintroducing any of the characters and I skipped over some of the less relevant bits. So if you haven't read any of the adventure yet, go do that.
By the way, this adventure has a discord server where you can ask me stuff or just hang out. Check it out! https://discord.gg/g94j9F7

SpoilerOur adventure began with Kitty McScruffy looking around in Gray City for people to help him with his quest from the Mercenary’s Guild. He first checked out the Generic Cafè, where Parabella and Mekot were having a little talk about something. Kitty first asked Parabella to join his party, which she agreed to, then he drew his sword and challenged Mekot to a battle. Mekot freaked out a little, and Parabella asked Kitty to chill for a bit. So instead, Kitty decided to seduce Mekot, which prompted Parabella to just drag Kitty outside. Mekot was totally into it, though.
Next, Kitty checked out Silk’s Statues per Parabella’s recommendation. He entered through the window, knocking over several garden gnomes in the process. Parabella yelled at him. Meanwhile, Silk, the owner of the satue shop was all like “oh no my window! go clean it up, Sand,” and then Sand, an employee at the statue shop, was all like “why me,” and they had a little back and forth about that. Kitty changed his mind about recruiting Silk, and went to leave the building, noting that the door was really small. Silk promptly abandoned his conversation with Sand to provide some customer service, asking if Kitty wanted to buy a statue. Kitty offered to buy a statue from Silk if he joined the party, to which Silk agreed. However, Kitty was broke, so he was unable to get Silk in the party. In a fit of frustration he threw a garden gnome across the room and it got lodged in the wall after nearly hitting Cotton, who was probably just loitering up until now. For some reason, Kitty did a Super Punch Ultimate Attack™ at Cotton. It didn’t go very well. When the dust settled, Kitty was on the floor with those swirly unable-to-battle eyes that you see on pokemon all the time in the anime, while Cotton rambled about stuff. While on the floor, Kitty had the most amazing idea, so he shot up and ran back to Silk with his proposal: break the wall above the door so that the opening is bigger. That way people will stop entering through the windows! Silk didn’t quite appreciate the sentiment, but Kitty did the thing anyway. He broke that wall real good. And then he and Parabella left. Cotton decided to follow them.
Next, Kitty checked out Judgement Boy Gold’s Delicious Pizzas. Here, our heroes were greeted by Judgement Boy #4 from Gregory Horror Show. If you haven’t seen that show, go check it out, it’s real good. Judgement Boy #4 asked if our heroes would like to reserve a table, but Kitty, failing to resist the joke, asked to reserve judgement instead. Judgement Boy #4 then went off to prepare a judgement. While waiting things to happen, we were introduced to two siblings, Zero and Anna. They were absolutely adorable, so Kitty asked if he could hug them. Zero said fuck no, and Anna got mad at him for being rude, and they just sort of argued for a bit. Meanwhile, Kitty got his judgement from Judgement Boy #4. It was really just a half-assed reference to Little Shop of Horrors, to be honest. So after that our heroes got a pizza, Zero and Anna finished arguing, and Cotton just watched. Parabella talked on and on about the economic history of our setting, and how the black coin became absolutely worthless. Kitty adopted a pizza slice and put it on his head. Then Anna came over and asked to have that hug. Kitty was all for that, but when he hugged her, he got poisoned. So he threw her away, which pissed Zero off. Zero tried to kill Kitty, but Parabella protected him. And then Cotton killed Zero. There was some talking, Judgement Boy #4 gave us some advice on taking responsibility, and we were outta there.
Next, Kitty and Parabella went to do that quest already. They had to kill someone called Comedy. Comedy had apparently been causing a lot of trouble lately. He was a low-level character in a high-level area, which according to the quest description, can turn someone into a monster. Alright, so the party arrived at the bad guy’s hideout. Some building with the lights turned off. It was very dark. Parabella shot a freakin’ laser beam to light it up a bit, accidentally hitting a pile of dead bodies. The pile caught on fire and lit up the first room. From there, there were two doors to check out, and an open hallway. Kitty knocked on the doors, but got no answer. There was some singing behind one of the doors, but before we could explore that, Cotton snuck past us and went into the open hallway and found Comedy like right away. So Kitty and Parabella go over there instead. Cotton and Comedy were having a little talk about something when Kitty butted in. Parabella took Cotton off-screen to lecture him about meddling with low-level quests, while Kitty was left to fight Comedy alone. To build confidence, he gave his sword a hug, but he cut himself by accident. This put his HP at a critical level and he was knocked out before the battle could even start. The sword leveled up from this and became a playable character. Sword attempted to revive Kitty, but didn’t really get anywhere, so it stabbed Comedy in the face instead. And just as Comedy was about to unleash his ultimate attack on Sword, Parabella one-shot him. Cotton wrapped himself around Kitty’s wound to stop the bleeding, giving Parabella time to take him to the hospital. Pizza Slice was left behind.
Kitty found himself in Heaven, being yelled at by God for about five seconds, and then he awoke in a hospital bed. Dr Sheep had revived him with a max heal spell. He asked his nurse to go get the patient’s friends. While waiting, he offered to answer some of Kitty’s questions. None of it was particularly mindlowing stuff. When the whole party minus Cotton was reunited, Dr Sheep asked for payment for his services. Our heroes were unable to cough up any cash, and had to settle for being indebted to the doctor, and would have to come back at a later date to return the favor.
Next, our heroes went to Black City to turn in the quest at the Mercenary’s Guild. But before they could enter the building, Sword disappeared. Kitty jumped on top of the nearest building to get a better view of the area, but that particular building didn’t have a roof, so he fell in, had an encounter with Fiber, and was promptly kicked out. Parabella explained that we had just encountered our first optional side-quest. Luckily it wasn’t a very hard one, there was a clear slime trail leading straight to Sword. Meanwhile, Sword had been approached by Vio and taken to some alley with a cardboard box. Vio claimed that the box contained something absolutely amazing and that Sword should open it. So Sword went and opened the box, and out came a guy with a paper bag for a head. Vio commented that he had actually expected the box to blow up when it opened. Anyway, so this box guy granted Sword one wish for opening the box, and Sword decided to wish for the ability to change sharpness at will. After this, the man in the box went back into the box. Vio heard Sword’s friends shouting, and panicked, hiding behind the box to avoid being seen by them. Kitty and Parabella arrived, and Sword jumped into Kitty’s arms. He was startled, but thanks to Sword’s new sharpness adjusting skill, it didn’t hurt this time. Parabella spotted Vio, and it turned out they knew each other. They had been in an adventuring party together before, and gone on some grand adventures, including liberating the Barrier and banishing a demon to the void. But those days were long gone, and Vio had since been struggling to get by. Taking pity on him, Parabella had him join the party.
Then our heroes finally got to the Mercenary’s Guild and turned in the quest. The Mercenary’s Guild Guy shot an XP beam at Kitty and through some miracle that I have no idea whether anyone have figured out yet, Kitty reached level 10 with just one quest. Vio later explained it usually takes at least three or four, but even that is probably pretty rare. So then it was time to pick up some new quests. The first quest was to help Anna find her way home now that her brother was dead. The second quest was to destroy Mekot’s new out-of-control robot. The third quest was a demigod appointment with Demigod Rose, which Dr Sheep had mentioned being able to arrange during the hospital visit. The fourth quest was a demigod appointment with Demigod Sunshine, who had taken an interest in Kitty for some reason. And the fifth quest was to bring Cotton to justice. Out of those, Kitty accepted the first, second, and fourth.
The first quest the party tackled was the one where they would have to destroy a robot. They found it outside the police station in Gray City, attacking Ray Jayfor with an acid-squirting flower arm. Kitty suggested diplomacy, but Parabella pointed out that diplomacy only worked on things with souls. So after a quick strife, the robot started talking to Kitty, and Kitty demanded to see the robot’s soul. The robot was unable to comply with the demand, and Kitty was left figuring out how he could repair this poor robot instead of destroy it. Parabella, seeing this as a waste of time, decided to destroy the robot against Kitty’s wishes. It was kind of a split-second decision, and she really regretted it afterwards. The beam also hit Ray Jayfor and he died. And when policeman Bill showed up and pointed this out, Parabella felt extra bad and went to jail, telling Kitty to talk to Mekot. Vio peaced out as well, leaving Kitty alone with Sword.
Before tackling the next quest, Kitty decided to return to the Generic Cafè, hoping Mekot would still be there. Mekot wasn’t there, but Thaik and some guy in a top hat were. They had apparently been looking around for Kitty, but was at the moment just having a little talk about something. Thaik recognised Kitty, and delivered a message to him, that Demigod Sunshine was ready for the demigod appointment, and was waiting for him at her tower. Thaik’s colored appearance got Kitty curious about the nature of color, but before he could get an answer, top hat guy pressed a button and poof he and Thaik were gone.
The second quest the party tackled was the one where they had to help Anna find her way home. They went to Judgement Boy Gold’s Delicious Pizzas to talk to her about it. As it turned out, Anna wasn’t from any of the worlds Kitty knew about. Not Black City, Gray City, White City, or even the Barrier. Anna told Kitty that her brother was going to come pick her up in a week, so she just wanted someone to tag along with for the time being. And so, Anna joined the part.
Finally, it was time for the demigod appointment. The party went to Sunshine’s tower in White City, according to Thaik’s instructions, and rode the elevator up. Sunshine apparently had a narrator who had been cursed to narrate every Sunshine in every universe ever, and acted as the voice of reason behind Sunshine’s more scatterbrained tendencies. Sunshine came off as rude and dismissive to the party, leaving it to the narrator to answer all the questions. Several walls of texts later, Anna wanted to leave, so they left before Sunshine could bring up a quest she wanted to give Kitty. Oh well. Thaik offered to lend Kitty a place to sleep for the night, but Kitty became paranoid and refused.
Our heroes went back to the Mercenary’s Guild to ask the guy there where Mekot was. Surprisingly enough, he knew, and gave some directions that sounded strangely familiar. However, before they could reach the destination, Windy Guy showed up and started beating up Kitty. Then JJ and Cleats showed up and tried to kill Sword. It was up to Anna to save the day, but that all happened off-screen, because suddenly the story moved to Vio and Mekot, who had just performed a summoning spell. This particular summoning spell was one which apparently would summon the murderer of any given person, though the specific details of the spell were not entirely clear. Vio had asked Mekot to perform the spell on Comedy, who Parabella had killed earlier in the story. Seemingly, the spell hadn’t summoned anyone, though. After some arguing about what this meant, Mekot decided to go do some investigating on his own, thinking that maybe the murderer was somewhere that blocked teleportation spells, like at the police station. On the way there, he encountered our heroes wrapping up their random encounter. Windy Guy had left in a huff, and Cleats had been defeated. JJ wasn’t evil in the first place, so he didn’t need to be dealt with. Kitty was on the floor, knocked out. Mekot asked Anna and JJ if they knew anything about Comedy, but didn’t get anything he didn’t already know. So he left the party behind and kept going. It was at this point that Kitty egained consciousness and sat up, rubbing his temple and complaining that questing wasn’t very fun. JJ suggested that Kitty go try a different career.
After JJ left, Kitty admitted that he had completely lost the plot and had no idea what to do. All he knew was that it was nighttime and the party was homeless. Anna pointed out that there were in fact several options for where to sleep. She mentioned the police station as a joke, but Kitty went for it anyway. Kitty went to the police station in Gray City and crashed in through the window, interrupting Mekot’s and Bill conversation. Anna and Sword stayed outside. Mekot had just been asking to get to talk to Parabella as soon as possible, but Bill refused since visiting hourse were over for the day. When Kitty entered, Bill gave him to Mekot, claiming that Kitty was the guy who got Parabella arrested in the first place. Mekot took what he could get, and offered to lend Kitty his guest room in return for information. And so, Mekot took the party to his guest room and left them there for the night. Kitty and Sword fell asleep watching TV, but Anna had other plans.
And then God went on vacation with his family. To be continued!
