Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - gutza1 - 12-23-2018

NOTE: This game is now concluded. It will be followed by the actual Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox session.

Intro
Welcome to my test session of Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox, a game I plan to run next August. The purpose of this session is to tweak the balance of certain mechanics that I plan on using in the main game. Due to certain time restrictions, this game will only last a few weeks at most. Still, if you want to have some fun, summon entities, or just play around with Sburb alchemy, this test session may still be for you! With that out of the way, let's begin.

How to Play
To play, you have to post actions. You get three actions a turn, and you can spread your actions across multiple posts however you wish. For example, you can use all of their actions in one post or spread your actions across three posts. It's recommended that you delineate your actions so I can more easily track what you are trying to do. With that out of the way, here are some extra tips.

  1. As the title says, to win the game, you have to destroy the Godmodder. Well, as this is a test game, you'll have to destroy a weak simulation of the Godmodder known as the "Simumodder," or at least play the game enough that the moderators of this simulation have collected enough data.
  2. Don’t expect your attacks against the Simumodder to actually work. If you do want to damage him, you’ll need to get creative. Try thinking outside the box.
  3. Don’t expect to be able to spam the same action over and over and have it continue to be effective. The Simumodder has a nasty construct called the Curse of Repetitiveness that kicks in if you do so. You don't have to come up with a completely new attack every time you act, but at least try to vary the description or minutia of your attacks.
  4. You can also summon entities and charge. The specific rules for both are listed under the detailed rules section.
  5. You can set up a chain attack that is boosted by other players contributing to it. However, spamming chain attacks will lead to greatly diminishing results.
  6. Just like the Simumodder, you have a Health Vial. If you die, you must expend three actions to respawn, and you will be afflicted by “respawn sickness” for one turn after respawning.
  7. You can bring in sidekicks to assist you in your actions or to affect multiple areas of the Battlefield at once, but be warned - you and your sidekicks can only have a constant total health, so bringing in sidekicks will decrease your avatar’s total health. Just as with a player, if a sidekick dies, you must spend three actions to respawn them, and they will be afflicted with respawn sickness for a turn. If you have more than one sidekick and more than one of them dies, you can use three actions to respawn all of them at once.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - KeepOnRolling - 12-23-2018

I punch the Simumodded, with a boxing glove that has the Simumodder painted on it.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - Karpinsky - 12-23-2018

Action 1: A small dirt house appears behind the Simumodder, and another Minecraftian comes out of it. His skin is somewhat derpy and his tools are made of wood. In short, he is a NOOB.

The NOOB attempts to attack the Simumodder. His wooden sword breaks on impact. So does his wooden pickaxe. His wooden hoe (wait, why does he have a hoe?) misses entirely and tills a random patch of soil.

Suddenly terrified that the Simumodder is just taking all of these attacks, the NOOB runs back into his house and refuses to come out.

But what nobody (except for me) noticed was that with all the wooden tools breaking against the Simumodder, the Simumodder now has a bad case of splinters.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - FlamingFlapjacks - 12-23-2018

I join. (storing this: (Saber && SCP-914) and (Bow && SCP-914) )
Action one: I toss a rock into the air. It flies off into the sky, maybe to be never seen again.
Action Two: I run over to the Simumodder, give him a Giant Stone Middle Finger. He thanks me, then tries to put it down so he can block the attacks coming at him. It does not leave his hands. He frowns and tries again. This time, it flips into his face, bashing it in, and flies off into the sunset.
Action Three: I recollect the Giant Stone Middle Finger for later.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - gutza1 - 12-23-2018

(As an FYI, I'm going to be updating relatively frequently over the next 3-4 days, with a break on Christmas, than slow down for the rest of the Winter Break)

The Simumodder blocks the punch with his Infinity +1 Shield that has the Simumodder painted on it! He then punches you into the sky with his boxing glove that has you painted on it! You lose 6 points of Vitality Gel from your Health Vial!

Simumodder: You're gonna have to try a little harder than that, punk!

The Simumodder points out that the NOOB is using Minecraft tools, which don't leave splinters!

The Simumodder doesn't appreciate you dictating his actions for him! However, he does respect the Middle Finger and what it stands for, so he doesn't counterattack!

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - FlamingFlapjacks - 12-23-2018

The Giant Stone Middle Finger glares at the Simumodder. The Simumodder suddenly is hit in the face by a bird that flips into existence, where it explodes in a explosion of Lesser Stone Middle Fingers, which fly everywhere.
I use my next two actions to charge if I can.
CP: 2

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - KeepOnRolling - 12-23-2018

Well, If this is a simulation, then the Simumodder must be some type of Ai or some such...

I tell the Simumodder every Paradox that has ever been written. I also attempt to invoke nihilism by making it realize it’s lack of true existence.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - Karpinsky - 12-23-2018

FOCUS (all 3 actions toward this damage attempt)

I point out that the NOOB is not me.

I prove this by grabbing the NOOB and swinging him around by his feet, then hurling him at the Simumodder.

That hoe'd patch of soil is still right under the Simumodder as of this action. While he's dealing with the NOOB, I sneak up behind him and plant some magic beans there, then apply Minecraft bone meal to the soil.

This results in a giant beanstalk growing into the same space the Simumodder is occupying within an instant. However this turns out, it won't be pretty.

A disembodied voice speaks into your mind.
CHARGING HAS NOT BEEN ENABLED YET... BUT CONSIDERING THE CURRENT COURSE OF THE SIMULATION, IT WILL BE. REGARDLESS, YOUR ATTACK WILL BE TREATED AS FOCUSED.

The Simumodder effortlessly dodges the bird! However, he has more difficulty dodging the Lesser Stone Middle Fingers...

Thanks to his fuzzy logic programming, the Simumodder is immune to paradoxes! In addition, he follows an existentialist philosophy that allows him to be at peace with his lack of true existence! However, thinking about this does distract him a tiny bit...

Even while distracted by the cloud of Lesser Stone Middle Fingers and deep philosophical questions, the Simumodder blocks the NOOB with his Infinity +1 Shield. However, in the confusion, he fails to notice your sneaky action... and gets stabbed in the chest by a humble beanstalk. 1 damage to the Simumodder!

Simumodder: ...
Simumodder: What the hell?!
Simumodder: That was supposed to be an easy dodge!

However, before he can continue, he is interrupted by a familiar disembodied voice.

SIMUMODDER DAMAGE DETECTED. PROCEEDING TO PHASE 2 OF SIMULATION

Suddenly, you feel a new power flow through you... and also, through the Simumodder (New rules in a post to follow).

Simumodder: Heh. Just wait until next turn, punks.

To fill the time, the Simumodder summons 100 Dersite Pawns to distract the Descendants!

Battlefield:

Dersite Pawns (x100): [PG] HP: 100/100
Simumodder: [GM] HV: 9/10

KeepOnRolling: [AG-P] HV: 14/20 Dodge: 50%
Karpinsky: [AG-P] HV: 20/20 Dodge: 50%
FlamingFlapjacks: [AG-P] HV: 20/20 Dodge: 50%

(As a note, the Dodge values on the players are only used to determine if NPC entities attack them. Simumodder attacks are handled by GM fiat.)

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - gutza1 - 12-24-2018

New Charging and Entity Rules:

Thanks to the Simumodder taking its first point of damage, active charging and entity summoning has been enabled! A copy of these rules will be posted in the OP.

Charging Mechanics:

In addition to spending actions on Battlefield actions, you can also convert actions into Charge Points (or CP, for short) that can be stored in an active charge. An active charge represents an immediate Battlefield action that is difficult to counter and has a power equivalent to multiple individual actions (e.g., a charged attack, a charged heal, a charged assist, etc.) and requires the expenditure of CP. An active charge can also be expended to summon entities onto the Battlefield (entity summoning is explained in a later section of the rules).

Players can trade each other CP as a free action. However, attempting to combine multiple active charges together may require a multi-turn combination sequence to function (especially if the combined charge would be particularly strong), and the participating players and the “ritual” must be defended from enemies.

Entity Mechanics:

Entities are the NPC combatants of the Battlefield who serve the players or Simumodder directly. In addition to bodyguarding combatants, entities make the opposing team’s combatants more vulnerable, and serving as the target of most attacks. Each entity acts during the End of Turn Battle (or EoTB, for short), in a set order (usually it’s AG, Neutral, PG, and finally, the Simumodder). Summoned entities can be whatever the summoner desires: characters from pop culture, original creations, you name it! Regardless of origin, entities are defined by their stats and mechanics: HP, attack, Dodge, Armor, etc. The summoner is free to design their entities with whatever mechanics they wish, as long as they are balanced according to the power of the action or charge used to summon them. In general, entities are balanced by investing actions or CP into their stats - if you’re trying to summon a tanky 10-charge entity, you might give it 8 CP worth of health or defensive abilities and 2 CP worth of attack and offensive abilities, while a glass cannon might receive 3 CP worth of health or defensive abilities and 7 CP worth of attack or offensive abilities. More detailed notes on balancing specific stats are below, in the List of Useful Entity Stats and Mechanics. Putting more CP (passive or active) into an entity will make it stronger.

List of Useful Entity Mechanics:

While none of these stats are strictly required in an entity, they are still very useful and easily applicable.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - Karpinsky - 12-24-2018

FOCUS:

The Dersite Pawns find themselves at one end of a long, slick, flat wooden surface. For some reason, they have been arranged in a rough triangle.

I stand at the other end of the long, slick, flat wooden surface, holding a bowling ball ten feet wide. I throw it down the surface in a typical underhand bowl, aiming straight for the Pawns. I put a certain spin on it, so it doesn't go wide but rather picks up speed as it heads for the Pawns.

When it hits, all the Pawns go flying. Some hit the unforgiving surface of the battlefield and perish. Others are crushed by the ball itself. A lucky few manage soft landings, and recover to fight on.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - FlamingFlapjacks - 12-24-2018

I put one cp into a charge
1/5 Clockwork Chaos
I run at the simumodder, and steal his face.
I then give it to a bunch of dersite pawns. His face is so ugly that they instantly die. The face leaps onto a new pawn.. and dead
and dead
and dead
and so much death wow

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - Numbers - 12-24-2018

I begin to crack open a can of BEES BEES: AAAAAAA 100% AAAAAAA. It's full of bees. A totally stupid amount of bees. (2 CP/30 CP)
I also pick up one of the dersite pawns and use it as a bat, bonking a bunch of other pawns.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - HunterX55 - 12-24-2018

Hi I also want to join

Action 1:
Challenge the godmodder to a game of chess with prospitans and dersites joining.

Action 2:
Figure out how to actually get CP.

Action 3:
Eat some pie flavoured pie.

RE: Destroy the Godmodder: MSPAradox (Test Session) - Ten11 - 12-24-2018

Ill join, hopefully this goes better than the last time this game (well, a game basically like this one) was run here.

I do have a question, do i need to specify exact stats for entities i summon? I dont want to write all that.

Anyway i guess i just appear? I cant think of anything cool for that.

Action 1: Summon a robot bird. Is pretty agile and can carry light things while being mildly hardy, at the cost of 0 offensive capabilities. I wont be using it for attacking.

Action 2: I use a Worms-style blowtorch to begin burning a hole through the ground, slightly in the direction of the godmodder.

Action 3: 1/10 charge to F-drive.

You manage to kill 40 Dersite Pawns and deal 50 points of damage each to 10 more!

You successfully steal the Simumodder's face... only to realize that it was actually a Doombot the face of a Decoy! Regardless, you attempt to kill Dersite pawns with the Decoy's face... but the Simumodder, being the Simumodder, ensured that his face would be DASHINGLY HANDSOME rather than ugly! The attack fails!

Welcome, HunterX55! To get charge points, all you have to do is spend actions. For example, instead of spending an action in-game, you can use it to increment the charge counter of a charge by one, like this: My Charge: 1/10. You can spend up to three actions each turn on a charge, if you want.

You eat a pie flavored pie... it tastes delicious... the Simumodder is now staring at you with envy. Uh oh...

Welcome, Ten11! I hope that the new mechanics of this game will let it run better than the last one...

You summon a Robot Bird! It will have 2,500 HP and a Dodge Rate of 50%. It will boost the effectiveness of whatever non-offensive actions you take with it until destroyed. In a pinch, it can also bodyguard you from attackers.

End of Turn Battle

In revenge for killing their comrades-in-arms, the Dersite Pawns charge on Karapinsky! However, he manages to dodge many of their attacks, and they are only able to deal 3 points of HV in damage at the end! As a note, you can use your actions to defend yourself from attacks. The Simumodder then turns to face the players... he appears to be concentrating on something. He clenches his Godarm... Suddenly, two summoning circles appear on the ground, then disappear to reveal the two hulking figures that have been summoned... Terror Imps!

Battlefield:

Robot Bird: [AG] HP: 2,500 Dodge: 50%
Dersite Pawns (x50): [PG] HP: 100/100 (x10): HP: 50/100

You summon AAAA Man! He will have only 1500 HP but deal 4,000 damage each turn. He hides behind the Medic... if an entity attempts to attack it, the Medic will take the hit for him!

End of Turn Battle

The Robot Bird idles, waiting for commands from its master. The AAAA Man takes the initiative, inflicting 4,000 damage on one of the Terror Imps! The Medic heals KeepOnRolling for 2 points of HV! Seeing their comrades die, the Dersite Pawns cower in fear, not doing anything with their action this turn! Looks like they don't really make the best soldiers. The Terror Imps, however, have no such compuctions... all together, they deal 4,000 damage to the Medic! Ouch. Looks like you may want to find a different entity for the AAAA Man to hide behind... The Simumodder, enraged at HunterX55 for not sharing some of his pie with him last turn, throws him into the Medic, dealing 6 points of damage to HunterX55 and 1,000 points of damage to the Medic!
